im pretty sure there was a new car on the way, unless the idea has been scrapped.I know it was going to be powered by a never before used ( in a superstock ) V6 engine.

Kelvin Gray still has his 1NZ stockcar in his garage and intends to rebuild it for Jamie his daughter to drive when she comes over from ausie for christmas. Has to change roll cage to suit the new rules.Kelvin has been the mentor for a ministock driver in auckland and is helping him build up a new Gray designed superstoc chassis for the 2010/2011 season

So going back thru the thread am I right in thinking there have been 5 6 Gray cars?
1 The light blue 46a that became 46a Paul Carson then scrapped
2 The ex 1nz that he still has
3 The 109r Jason Brown car
4 The very early one that was on TradeMe as a chassis that has sold up north and not been seen since
5 The gold 47a that is for sale now that states built by Gray for Lonergan / Barnes / Smokey
6 Sister car to the 109r Brown, roller to Devilracer / Baypark / Ewen Mac Millan up North / Baypark again?
Gees some of these car histories are complicated but well worth sorting out...

I had a Kelvin Gray chassis at one stage. About 2000/01. It was built for one of his crew and the 109r car is the sister chassis to it. I sold it to a guy who took it to the mount, dont know if it ever got finished. I brought it as a coffin and bumpers and finished it to almost a roller. Will post pics when i can.
Why was the Carson car scrapped? Does anybody know what the chassis on trade me that went up north looked like?

The Carson chassis was stuffed, twisted in a couple of directions. I guess it could have been repaired with a lot of work, but they decided to scrap it and got an unfinished NRP chassis to build a Superstock which has never been completed.

Hi the car that Devilracer says was just a coffin & went to the Bay was onsold to a chap by the name of Ewen Mac Millan up North who finished it & had a 3.9 Falcon in it. He raced it at Taipa for a season or two painted in Mangonui Haulages colours (Brown & Orange with a Silver chassis). Ewen finished racing & as far as I know a guy in Tauranga brought it to race at Baypark.

the Carson car was unfix-able it twisted the front one way and lifted the rollcage over 50mm on the other side, they made a start on it to fix it but stopped when they got an engineer in to look at it. To fix it they had to chop the front off from the firewall then chop the rollcage off leaving stuff all of the car left so they scraped it.

I imagine that car was the car built in between the Carson car and the 1nz car.

The Kelvin Gray Flat Chassis car that was on Trade Me now lives in Napier, parked up by a mate called Sidewinder . Going to get the old car up and going again for use at Harrisville in the new Harrisville Classic Speedway Club and Harrisville Historic Stockcar Club .
