There must be a fair number of old topline A Grade(superstock) cars battling around in the Std stock class. Be great to see a few former glory/what they look like now comparism pics. Surely a topnotch chassis from a few years ago still has some life in it!

My Kuriger "Iron Maiden" was built sometime in the 80s (the only genuine one to be built by Peter Kuriger with a Holden V8) for Merv Meads. It has had a lot of owners in her time. I bought her less engine and gearbox and have converted it to a standard with a 4litre Falcon6. For a detailed history go to the Watts Racing link and go into history. I have been slack in the supplying of a photo to Dean as the car is not quite complete. pics will be posted to those interested in the very near future.

Heres a shot of a former 1nz now being raced as a standard stock - I think this may have been 85/86 season prior to the 2nd NZ title in a row this car won. Great photo from Pall Mall, possiblly the first to enter MIA's hall of fame. and as it raced last season - 20 years later - another flogged from Pall Mall - or maybe we should settle on his status - God! And as it is now in Rototrua - thanks for the shot elmo4r - in the thread i found this in you mentioned you;d be posting more pics of this as it is completed - any chance? Be a test for fans - find a picture of a standard that was a superstock - i'm sure there a heap on here. cheers

Car looks cool in the new paint job all right, and awesome with out the wing - super tough. Hows the beast going for you? I remember you saying somewhere its the most expensive car you've had, hope the investment is paying for a couple of flags! All the best for the season.

The 165A Stockcar at no point was a superstock it started out as the Stockcar of Scott Redfern and then became Stockcar 165A driven by Mark Thompson then Phil Brisco took over the driving duties and he became 2NZR this car is now Stockcar 841E driven by Matt Boulton.
The two photos below that are different cars.
18H was Bryce Steiners Kelly built Superstock which he raced as 18M then 18H then sold to Wayne Lucey who continued racing it as 18H for a while but then changed to 816H which he is still racing it under to this very day.
The 166R car was Steve Hampton's Stockcar which then did a brief stint with the Superstocks with Bryce Steiner driving it before being sold to Kihikihi's Steve De Malmanche who races it as Stockcar 511K.

This is Dean Watts old 88p Iron Maiden in her new colours. (Excuse the driver, thats not me!) Thanks Observer! Yes Iron Maiden is the most expensive racecar I have owned. First meeting out started with a DNF due to a pivot bolt in the throttle fell out. 2nd race netted a 2nd placing with her running full retard due to dissy coming loose and lost powersteering due to return pipe MELTING! Ran her in the 3rd with no powersteering anyway and got the win. Overall it was a good meeting and it let us know that our initial gearing was too short, and it gave us our need to fix asap gremlins. I had some bigger rubber put on (Thanks Shane @ Tyrepower Whangarei!!!!), Dad and brother fixed the siderail striker and remedied the powersteering leak. The next meeting was the next weekend and I had to work (dammit) so gave to Dad to pedal. He netted a first in the first a DNF in the second due to breaking LH lower torsion link and a win in the 3rd. Now it is a case of going down to the shed and fixing the completely flat dummy bumper and getting the missfire sorted at high revs due to lack of fuel.

The car i am running this season is an ex Gary Parkes car. It seems it was converted from Superstock to Stockcar about 4 or 5 years ago by Shaun Avery, and Mike Herbert and some of his crew. The engine ended up in one of the Hunters cars also. Mike, who knew the car well, told me that there were two built together, and Jason Reddinger has the other one. He wasnt sure of which one was the 1990 1NZ car, but it was one of the two.
My last years car 15ak (owned by Ridlands and KT Racing), now owned by Eddie Bos, was ran by Doug Rawiri prior to me and Brad racing it. From what i have been told, it is the chassis that Lyndsay Willis got his 1NZ title in.
