Here's Ray's Monza, I belive it was a Harris chassis. Went to Ray Makene who destroyed it at the 1988 NZ's at Te Marua

Yes it was a Harris car. Gary also drove it, or a sister car at one stage. This was the Buick that Tony Valante raced out here in late 1975/ early 1976. I think it was retained by the promotion. Any chance this is the car that Lance Jennings raced, probably too many years between this photo and the 96A car.

Norm Butler had two Monza's, the first 1 is the car that Graham Hodge run, this car is still racing as a Corvette in cromwell and was raced by Adam & Hamish Gent .It was the first Kuriger car in the south . The 2nd was the Ex Fletcher car .Trevor Black also raced a Monza out of riverside in the early 80s & for all you old folk Jon Casey of Dunedin also raced 1

I have realised that the 1st Monza I leased from Mike Laird of PN in 1987 was originally from the South Island.. Now I might be wrong, but I remember Mike telling me it was a guy.. Black.......Your posting might give some light on it ..... as you mentioned a guy... Trevor Black....... I reckon that might be his one !!! I might see if I have a photo of it or get TimS to seek it out Cheers Wiseowl

There was also two running out of Beachlands Speedway in Dunedin in the early to mid 90's, Graeme Hodge ran one, the others name escaped me at the moment. I may have some pictures of these at home. Graham Hodge did have a Chev Monza, and the engine was out of a Kawarau Jetboat in Queenstown. If anyone has any photos of Graham's car - blue with number 7 on it, I would really appreciate. Graham is my older brother.

I am wondering if anyone can assist with my curiousity. Does anyone know the what happened to Doug Smiths monza after him. It was one of the Supers my father built, but for some reason we never kept track of it. If it was still alive somewhere, no doubt rebuilt/rebodied I would be keen to know. Cheers Hemivimp - DJared

Kevin Kerr raced Monza's out of chch a few years back. The first was 65c then he retired. later on he bought another from the West Coast. At that stage 65c was taken, so he took 85c. He raced that Monza for a few seasons then he stripped it then put the running gear into a new Corvette that he built. The Corvette still races occasionally in the hands of 51c Jason Campbell.

Great thread, love those Monza's. Do any of the fibreglass body manufacturers throughout the country still have the moulds to create these bodies again? Particularly the body side panels with the IMSA/DEKON type wheel arch flares moulded in to them. Your help would be very much appreciated, thanks.

I rescued this chassis from a farmers pit, still had the blue 85c body on it. Sold it to a chap up in the north island about 10 years ago.

This was Kevin Bates Monza 5H - now on Waiheke island waiting resurrection... this car was a loose copy of mine built by Kevin and his crew. I grew up watching Forest Lake Saturday nights late 60's till it closed... Batesy was one of the stars in saloon cars RIP
