After reading the write up in the teams programme, Dutchy thought out loud that he might like to buy back one off his old cars and restore it ! This may well have been done before, but just where did the ex Flying Dutchman cars end up ? Cheers Bazza

Was the one Jason Moir bought a Kuriger? If it was, Cliff Henderson bought it and raced it for a season and finished it off completely and is now at the big racetrack in the sky.

Cheers Bazza There seems to be a load of drivers from the 80s and 90s looking for their old cars to restore. I wish them all luck, be great to see a full field of flat chassis cars having a nostalgic run. Trevor Peters is looking for one of his cars on another thread and some of the names that I know of that are searching is quite exciting, especially from the Waikato/Rotorua/Tauranga general area.

It was really great to see Trev & Dutchy again at the teams meeting. Neither off them have changed to much either.
Good luck in there hunts for their old cars.
Cheers Bazza

Here is my (supposed) ex dutchy car. Apparently the history I have found on this was it was possibly one of the 3 built built at the same time by Steve Malaquin. This was racing in in Nelson, log book has owners listed as '96 - Bruce Borlasse, '97 - Shane Davies, '01 - Pete Maunder then to me in approx late '05 ? ( I think from memory) and now on the track as a stockcar after a major rebuild (approx 18 long months). I have noticed lots of things on it that point me into agreeing it is a ex dutchy car. Wonder which car was his favourite car & which one he wants to buy back to restore? Hopefully it may rattle someones memory to provide a bit more info on how old it is etc... Be good to know how old it is.

Correct Bud, Its the Malaquin built car that originally had a Rover in it.Was sold to malcom Robertson in Nelson who ran it as 24n.Went to his son in law after that and eventually went in the order you posted. The car won the NZ GP in Blenheim after the NZ Title in Nelson and the season after Malcolm bought it so that was around 1991-92 so would have say Dutchy got the car after his "Squash-a-spacey" Flat chassis days.Built around 1988-89??? And may I say you have done an awesome job of tidying up the whole deal.Looks a heap better than when I last saw it in Pete Maunders hands. Well Done!!!

The one Dutchy wants is currently in the hands of Trevor Peters, who seems reluctant to sell. It would be great to see a black 24H back out there.
And Dutchy, if you are on here, sorry we didn't catch up in Palmy and many many thanks for the time you took in that interview ;D

Maybe a decently constructed thread in the off season would do the builder and the cars the credit they deserve.
