Whilst we feel we made a pretty good job of the weekend, we would like to apologize to the public for the amount of dust that people had to eat and also the lack of water in the Public toilets in the pits towards the end of the meeting.
The reason for both was quite obvious a lack of water. We did have a Porters truck coming in, for which we are very grateful but it is also on standby for other fire fighting commitments plus had been delivering water etc.
The extra hot weather caught us out a bit with the amount of water that we had to put on the track that the pits missed out and this also caused the water shortage in the pit toilets at the end of the meeting.
The huge crowd obviously had an effect as well, with this little scenario to consider, each time a toilet is flushed it uses approximately 11 litres.
We have already today priced out a new bore so the tank can be filled twice as quick to avoid the problem happening again.

Thanks Sonja.. it's nice to see a track that actually apologises for any misdeeds (for want of a better word)... & I am not getting at any track but it is nice to see stuff acknowledged... & btw.. i had an awesome weekend (except for the fact that it was freezing on saturday & when we got there at 5:30 it was amazing to see how many people were there @ 5:30).

As Wild_Child said, it is good to see you acknowledge you had a problem and are dealing with it. My first time in Vegas for a long time and as far as I'm concerned, everything else that went on as far as entertainment and running of the meeting??? Excellent. Running out of water was a bit of a pain in the pits but no worse than some other tracks have been I'm sure.

With all the work thats been put in to the public areas and the pits/carpark, the awsome track preperation, the well run meetings and the awsome racing Rotorua has nothing to apologise for, especially for something thats an act of God. Good on you for acknowledging a problem and immediatly proposing a solution, so many would just shrug and say nothing we can do about it, or have fifty different and unworkable solutions and argue about it forever.
Rotorua might not be the flashest track in the country, but it is the best.

well said paul to true cheers sonja but it wasnt that bad in the front straight 11 litres of water you may want to get lyall to have a look at that most new cisterns only use 3 or 6 liters just a thought to help out well done to all was a great weekend got a bit windy in the tent though

Sonja and the Committee SONYA Its great to see that you guys are forever trying to get perfection... The dust was no problem for me ,as I was one of the "victims" who watched it on " Live streaming"... I have to say that this is the "BEST" thing achieved in speedway for years !!!!!!! Awesome.. PS... In your post quoted.. you mentioned A HUGE CROWD !! Are there any crowd attenance figures available yet !! Cheers & Thanks WISEOWL

Thanks for tolerance. Yeah agree with the toilets but most of ours are the older version. As we go through them we are replacing to the smaller cisterns. Hopefully by next summer the back of the main toilet block up the top will all be renewed inside and have all new toilets as well which will also help.
The sound system, now there was a drama. At the same time as the Live Streaming kicked in our PA had a hissy, we naturally assumed that it was something to do with their broadcasting. However, after a few urgent minutes (and then a few more) the problem was fixed although to this day nobody can tell us what caused it or what Ray did that fixed it, but it would appear that it had nothing whatsoever to do with the TV people.

As with all delicate electronic machinery you have to get your largest hammer out of your toolbox and threaten to reprogramme a sensitive area ;D. Am interested to find out wether the live streaming boys recorded the action as well, a DVD from thier vantage points ould be awsome and an earner for the club.

Well done SonyaH your thread really makes up for the lack of info & political nonsense from some other clubs lately!, which is somewhat depressing for the sport, I hope some other promoters take note of your caring attitude towards the public. Cant get any better than that!....
