I have this mirror, and its supposedly "too long" So we taped over around 3cm of it. And it passed inspection the next saturday..
Why is putting tape over part of a mirror allowed, but when the mirror hasn't been taped over, its not allowed?

The mirrors are only allowed to be a certain size. I can't remember what the size is but by taping over part of it you are reducing the square cm area that the morror is, effectivly bringing it back to the correct size.

We had the same problem with our mirror being to big and when we out tape over it to resize it we were told either take it off or don't race... Wish all tracks stuck to the same rules

Correct Huggies, we painted ours out and were allowed it for seasons, then last season told to replace it as the glass area is to big.
Tape you can remove too easily, that's why we painted ours but now a new one goes in.

i just zip tied and tapped two car mirrors into mine but the problem i find is when i hit some thing then it adjusts its self so ill being looking at the floor. But since then i just took them out and dont race with them in ae and when im drivng round the pits ill just get sum1 to guid me out of my park

Hey look i agree with chocfish. Why on earth would you need a mirror in a ministock anyway? When i am racing i have much more important things to be looking at (in front of me) than worrying about what everybody behind me is doing! And besides.. Non contact class, We aren't allowed to block (as i have been extensively told by certain referees ) so why have a tool which extensively aids the above things

I think its more of a safety issue, I use my mirrors when reversing, as sometimes my helpers arn't even helping. Or when I have to reverse cause I went to far forward when theres a red light.

I know how to solve both of those problems. 1st Back in after the race. 2nd Turn around or I'm sure a flag man will be able to help you back into place. Seriously, Not having mirrors would solve a lot of the nonsense about taking people out in the class.

I have never ran mirrors....
when reversing I just get one of the crew to guide me in.
Why take the mirror around for a ride around the track when you dont need it..

Have to agree if there were no mirrors in ministocks it would take out alot of the hastle of blocking etc for refs

MIRRORS are there for safety when the red light comes on do you lot just stop ??
when the red light comes on then you look in it to make sure you can stop safely with out being hit from behind !!! the mirror size checking is a joke as well ask your vehicle checker to show you how he or she has worked out the size as most wouldn't have a clue

What if some one has stoped in front and you smack into them that is also a safety issue.
