Is that 128.760 km/hr an average for a lap or speed gun on the straight?

That would have to be an average speed. Mods were clocked in the mid to high 130's at the end of Waikaraka's back straight years ago and speeds have gone up since then

Mods Really? Whose car was that Crumpe? If you look on the wall of the clubrooms at WP you will see a pic of a speed camera wagon that was parked on the infield clocking the cars. From memory the ones that were up in that bracket were Roger Bertram and one of the Haighs, probably others like Phil Game as well but it was a while back to remember now. No doubt someone will know for sure.

Just checked the data - Track length 440m. lap time 12.302 seconds. = 128.76 km/hr average for the lap! It would be great to have a speed gun on them at the end of the straight. Also noted that the fastest two (Jamie & Dean) both went faster in heats 3 & 4. Jamie 128.906 & Dean 129.380 Dave

I recall when Chrissy Passmore (think that's the name) was out from the States racing a sprintcar max speeds were reached in the 160kph region at Baypark a few seasons back. I have no doubt this achieved by many sprintcars at Baypark these days.
