I think possibly the best prepared track for the Interislander / Valvoline Saloon Series ... from the pole line to the wall raceable.
All clubs clearly made significant effort to prep their tracks, the defining factor for Blenheim being the requirement of minimal packing.

hey grandad i thought you finshed 7th in the last race but results have you as 9th great to see you and the team down here and great racing by all cant whit till next year You are quite correct. I did finish behind Mell Hills in 7th place in the feature. Unfortunately I nearly jumped the start on the second yellow, pulling out to go as the flagman looked like he was going to drop the flag. ... But he didn't. Double drat!!!!! Pulled back and got my car rear munted by 59a Brian Skelton who was following me! 30 minutes after the race finished the ref came through the pits to my car to advise me that he had relegated me two places (thus the 9th place on the records) Fair call. I did step out early, albeit pulled back and no advantage taken. Many a race is lost on the track and won in the protest room. Just a shame nobody told me until it was too late! ;D ;D

Yep Murray many a race is lost on the track and won in the protest room and your relegation in the last race actually changed the outcome of the overall series individual driver placings. Bryan Skelton moving up one place from 8th to 7th giving him 152 points overall, tied with Mark Newall. On a countback Bryan was awarded second and Mark third.
Reason why it took half an hour for the ref to catch up with you was the refs room was like grand central station immediately following the race. Seemed like the whole world was jammed in there. I was a bit concerned being in the office below that if they managed to pack any more in, the floor would give way. Twas probably lucky the ref was able to get outta the room and catch up with you before you arrived back home ;D

Magpie says, "Reason why it took half an hour for the ref to catch up with you was the refs room was like grand central station immediately following the race. Seemed like the whole world was jammed in there." Certainly wasn't me in there and I'm absolutely gutted to learn so many appear to have lost their focus, if they ever were, which I doubt. The North vs South Series had as a guiding princible, being, to put on the very best speedway Saloon / A Grade show, so that our sport, our class may benefit, NOT the individual.
Likely a bus in Kaiakora, 'hit & run' while parked hit my jeep? I was getting a caffine and donut fix! Awesome in the South, but for the fact that I woke up too late to realise that I was competing against some in the North Team more than others, as well as the South! ;D As for that Southern hospitality and support - absolutely incredible. Dave Walsh from Kaiapoi Car Clinic and Archie fixing my gearbox so efficiently and willingly is unequalled in my experience. A real regret was not getting to Oxford due to my broken gearbox. Did get to call in at Ashburton, a South Island favourite of mine, taking Paul Cressy and family with me! You've heard of THE WALTEN'S, this is the CRESSY CLAN of Matamata.

The ref apologised. The earlier posting explains it's sounds like he was was somewhat set apon. I did point out the damage to the rear and was told even if I was of a mind to protest (which I wasn't) it was too late. In the meantime, we'll get on with life, carry out repairs, and have a great time in Wanganui this Sunday!
