Admittedly this is speculation from observed fact, but don't be too quick to right off a new track in the Kumeu area. There are a number of big budget teams based in the area, including one very generous team owner, who own appropriate land and get along well with each other. They certainly wouldn't defy SNZ or existing tracks, but they are looking at building a private track for their own use for testing, cooperate rides etc. One outlook is that WS, to hold a track license, must guarantee a minimum number of meetings for its contracted drivers. If the ACC makes it impossible to meet this obligation they need another venue to fill in the gap, they have already run meetings at ferndene etc. And if another track falls foul of SNZ to the extent that they loose their license for good the infrastructure will already be there to pick up the slack.

have also heard this from numerous sources, personally think in this day and age auckland speedway as a whole, and upper north island tracks would benefit from one track in auckland as they could put on a good varity of shows with some real premier meetings of glamour classes along with low key type club nights and also allow for classes not running to travel, i think huntly have started to show that you can run a variety of classes at meetings than the same as you always have, draws a different crowd and sponsers so can only be beneficial for the sport in general,
my 2 cents worth

Funny you know,
I went to a meeting for Hooncorp with a council in Auckland area in June 2008, and there is indeed a motorsport facility and they do include 2 speedway proposed sites. One track of 500m and another incl the first of 800m !!
This is by no means a rumour and next year I hope to have some news to air. As far as proof, you will have to trust me. I am not lying, but then, I am a car dealer. Make no mistake, this is real. I will terminate my membership if this is not the truth, how about that?
If a moderator contacts me, I will show one of them and they can pass comment.

with the rugby union being hard up for cash, and nz cricket getting to be a white elephant, eden park is looking at ways to generate money before 2011. how about electric golf kart speedway on the infeild ? more exciting than cricket OR golf(or watching paint dry) ;D

www.manukau.govt.nz/default.aspx?id=10203There you go team, Mohamad went to the mountain and the mountain spoke . click on the link above Spoke to MCC yesterday and they advise that there are currently no consents being processed for motor sport activity's at Colin Dale motor sport park. Given the current economic situation I doubt there will be anything substantial happening there for a while yet any way. Bernie

This boy is good, he is very good. Well done Bernie, looks like I'm not resigning as a macgorian after all, tho I knew I wasn't.
This does have a lot of serious backing, but consents have yet to be finalised and I as well as others will be looking for backing through 2009 for various disciplines. I'm not interested in building a speedway myself, but the plan DOES include one infact 2 as earlier mentioned.
This complex will happen a lot quicker than Hampton Downs which is progressing very well, but Colin Dale Park has actually already hosted a motorsport event. Offroaders in October had a big skid and they loved it by all intense purposes.
I'm also in discussions with another Council for small events. If anyone wants to get on board at above grass roots re Hooncorp, pm me for any information as well as I will be looking for a website person and need some other clever designers in 2009.
