In a Program that is? For a Racing Night
A5 or A4? Colour throughout? Each Race seperatly placed so you can write drivers/grid/finshing or a One page of events that you can full in who was where? Driver Profiles? Lots of Pics? Crosswords etc? Drivers lists with sponsors etc? Do you like History or Flashbacks? Do you like a high editioral content? Previous Meeting reviews? Expert Commentary? Should they last perhaps more than one meeting and cover 2 or 3 weeks? How much is too much.

Big colour, big pictures for big meetings. Nice big area for finalists & their points. Don't do a whole history of the event. A cameo on someone or something if it is appropriate. Get a successful drivers (in that event) point of view or create a panel who each pick winners, & drivers strengths weaknesses etc. Happy with a programme like Huntly's for the rest. I would fill it with a driver of the week & an explanation of the week (of a rule or specification etc) so the fan learns something each time. eg when does a car have to come off when red lights are on, when does it get to stay on. Another might be change in number colours (from black on white to colour). Intro should talk about the drawcard that got us through the gate. I personally don't record anything for support races. All i want to know is what class is racing next. Competitors & sponsors a must in all programmes.

put an extra $ on the price and have a 50/50 raffle, 50% of the money to the winning programme holder and 50% to the driver of their choice. sell 1000 programmes and one lucky fan walks away with $500, its a good drawcard.

50/50 Not bad at all I guess? Spend XYZ and a chance to win ZXY it seems logical and a good way to sell your program. Mind you could do it with just a lucky program prize draw.
I for one never have understood why speedways dont have a big sign promoting what the prizes are so people can buy a program it would make sence.

Give the not so regular attendees some useful information so they know who to look out for, things like current points standings, last seasons points winners, lap and race record holders etc.

In a Program that is? For a Racing Night Drivers lists with sponsors etc? Mr Drever. You could not get it right for the last two years with the drivers lists and sponsors even after raising the issue at the AGM. One of the things we owe most to our hard to get sponsors is exposure. NO SPONSORS NO RACERS

NO SPONSORS NO RACERS I wasn't in charge of the program - I was involved but not in charge. I believe that only drivers who acutally race should be in their. If you go to any track through their program a good amount never turn up some for seasons! They just like seeing their name in the program - go figure that one.

Aaron, I'm sorry but this was not a personal attack on you at all but rather making a point that WP don't seem to get it. There is a lot of disgruntled members out there of what was suppose to be a MEMBERS club. Like I said "you was on the committee and need to take responsibility for that"

Point taken - apart from a whole program of drivers lists ;D do you have any other info that you like to see in a program?

Standard meetings, loose the full Monty it's not selling. I personally skip it now because most of it's not worth paying $5.00 for. I understand that the cost is relative, but it's unnecessary expenditure when it could be so much more for half the price.
No gloss required for standard meetings. Go all out on the high profile meetings but last weekend would have been fine with the equivalent of the HUNTLY prog. I don't mind paying $2.00 for it, if it lets me know what order I can expect to see the races in, who's competing for what, whats on for the night, drivers lists etc. (who will be there) Mr Webster had it sorted when he did his write-ups with including the Sponsors name when talking about a driver or car. Shane Bessant in the SendAtee.co.nz 919a has a shocker last weekend. and so on. keep it informative. Class Spec information. Short write up on last weeks stirrers, speedsters, Black flags, more personalities needed at the park to keep it interesting. Speedway info, Track Lucky prog numbers are great, some will buy one just for the chance to win. Give-a-ways.
