Can anyone suggest a good engine builder for a saloon engine. I have a couple of guys that want to race this class next season. What cost is it for a ground up new competitive engine, Thanks Shane

Can anyone suggest a good engine builder for a saloon engine. I have a couple of guys that want to race this class next season. What cost is it for a ground up new competitive engine, Thanks Shane What makes a good engine builder? Is it price, if so, for what? How does one compare? Competative? Competative to who, and what track? A good engine builder is a lucky one, lucky the engine didn't blow or fail in the first few runs! Most of us built our engine over time. Start of with a basic runner then inhance with each re-build. I'd suggest from stratch $30,000 plus would / could easilly disappear for a competative engine. I assume the owner would not contribute and would have to pay for all aspects of build, including fitting! Alternatively, buy a runner for $2-4000. Replace the bearings. Replace inlet manifold and fit 600 holley. No roller rockers, cast heads (as per rule book) $4-6000 should be fitted and go racing! Did this myself for part of a season a couple of years back - had a ball. Reliable as, and had a few wins and places on the smaller tracks. Wife wanted me to leave it in the car!

Papakura Engine Specs. One of the best kept secrets.
Brian Wheatley if you want a Chev.
Both South Auckland, but you do travel for reliability.

I guess at the end of the day, its still a cheaper option than a supersaloon engine ...
