Glen Leech 29e only non Aucklander by list.
Time to drop Modifieds at Rotorua and Huntly and race out of Auckland, Stratford or Wellington. I would have thought to point in having a racecar is to race it. Seens to be lots in sheds.

Confirmed entries as at 10.00pm Thursday 3NZ 6a 7a 11a 19a 21a 29a 36a 41a 64a 29e 121s
So that's Blakely, Jesen, Fox, Lane and Leech mixing it up. Throw in Scheffer and Rose who are definitely on the pace this season and this is THE event of the weekend to watch.
A smallish field like this, running a 3 heat"all in" format makes for the best viewing rather than the American "Time Trial" system the Sprint cars tend to run. You have 5 of the top 8 or so drivers in the country going head to head in 3 races, rather than just meeting once in an end of the night final.

Clubs still need to have them as a class if they want to hold any type of SNZ championship, so if clubs like rotorua or huntly were to drop them, which I can't see happening, that would mean local fans would have no chance to see modifeds racing. ok those clubs may not have regular nights with the numbers like stratford or auckland, but there will still be 2 or 3 good meetings during a season that draw good fields. look at BOP champs last weekend, then theres waikato champs later in the season. anyway this weekend I'd expect chatty to be in the lineup flying the flag for H, mines got no front axle at the mo so its not going anywhere

:)You cant beat the modifieds for racing. What a great show they put on. I go to stockcars for two things , and thats modified racing and stockcars. I would hate to see them stop racing at huntly or rotorua. You guys rock.

Be good to see Jamie Fox back out on the track Don't expect to much from Foxy this weekend. We are still working flat out to get the car completely finished for this weekend and will be doing so right up to leaving for the track. New car and new engine will mean that it may take a night or two for us to get up to speed with the other guys who have been racing since the start of the season.... to be honest going straight into a championship first night out is not ideal but we have no option. Great to see Glen making an appearance and i think those who have not seen him race before will be surprised just how good this guy is. I expect him to be right on the pace and he will be one of the favorite's, not just for this weekend but also for the NZ's later in the season. Brian, Scotty and Paul have all shown good pace so far this season and will likely lead the Auckland challenge to keep the title at home. Great news that Stuart is heading up from Stratty, tad disappointing that no others from Stratty are making the trip but that is the way it goes. As for us we will just be happy to be finally getting back out there!!

Maybe I was out of the loop somewhat but I only found out that this event was on while we were at Rotorua last weekend by which stage I had already made other plans which involve the bar at baypark. Hopefully Rosie can win it for the Stratford boys.

Hopefully Rosie can win it for the Stratford boys. I would suggest that if I were you I would check all the clubs calendars and make up your own race schedule. If we all wait for clubs to contact us about meetings we will be waiting forever! We set our schedule at the start of the season by checking all the clubs race dates and collating the information. No one from Stratty has ever contacted us about upcoming race dates in advance either but i know when they all are! Auckland champs has been set on the calendar since the start of the season. I agree that it would be nice to think that someone from the tracks would contact us a few weeks in advance to arrange things but this rarely happens. Personally believe that drivers need to take some responsibility to be aware of the meets coming up and should now well in advance which ones they intend to commit to, saying the first you heard about it was last weekend sounds a bit convenient ;D

Completely agree and I do exactly that. Maybe I missed it on the Akl calendar, maybe that calendar wasn't up when I checked the rest or maybe Stratty was originally planning to run us that night. Who knows. Either way it was off my radar untill last weekend when one of the Akl lads asked me if I was going. The mod class is so small nation-wide that it is important we all work together and, as you know, we have never been shy about travelling to support other tracks. I guess what I was thinking was that it couldn't hurt for there to be some mechanism to remind or prompt drivers about upcoming meetings (this already happens to a large degree through class reps).

I think Stratty did originally have this weekend down as a mod night and have changed it. Craig up here has been doing a good job trying to keep guys informed but possibly we all need to start looking a bit further out than 1-2 weeks. Would help all parties I think. Pity you are not coming up Paul as I think you will find the new J&J will suit the Auckland track a bit better than the old Gordge chassis from last year did. Have to wait until the Dirt cup now!
