we had at sunset speedway Westport had mini stocks doing hot lap demos and glen Redmond doing the best time of 17.seconds which on our track is 85khms hr and solo bikes doing sub 15seconds . as one of the track crew that is flying and they did this speed nearly all the races .. which is awesome to see a small track hold it together for a sunny meeting

Useing my 'eyecrometer' at Baypark it seems the mini stocks (the good drivers) are doing 87 kph on the corners and 91.5 kph down the straights It's only the bumps that rub some speed off. Where as the stocks seem a little slower drifting on the corners but whittle the seconds off down the straights. I might take a stop watch, pencil and notebook, and test the different classes corner speeds one day... if I remember.

We have found the ministocks can be quicker than most stocks.
The banking helps...

i recall looking at lap times last season and on some nights the fastest mini stock lap is 1.0-1.2 seconds behind the fastest stocks lap of the night

I'd be pretty confident that Glen Redmond will be faster than me in my stockcar around the westport track.
Not sure how long it would last in the fence though.
Glen would make a good stockcar driver I reckon - fast and smooth, just need to get him into a car.
I was under the impression Westpork wern;t allowed to race stockcars because there wall only went halfway around the track, and had an exposed end, or something along those lines.
Apparently its a cool, tight little track to drive on.
If you had another Sunday meeting after a Greymouth meeting I bet there would be a bunch interested in coming up to race. I know I would be.

Have just taken a look through the Gis lap times.
A lot of out of town cars are about 1-1.5 seconds a lap quicker than our fastest mini stocks, but our local cars are closer or behind the mini stocks.

As ross said we are a division 2 track we can run demo classes would be good to see the stockcar boys down!

At ESS the record for ministocks is 19.8274 but most of the time they are round the 21-23 mark for most of the night. What are the times like in GM as about same size as ESS
