Electronically.
Like Speedway NZ has done for Licences, why can't we have drivers refering back to SNZ website clicking on their class, and completing a form over the net with credit card details, they can even attach a pic and a bio for the event.
We are now heading towards 2009, You would think this would allow promotors to get the entry forms up once approved by SPANZ and SNZ pre-season, then it gives them a chance to PROMOTE the event.
Really PROMOTORS in general are nothing more than organisers, if they were wanting to ensure that a meeting was going to be FANTASTIC as Palmerston have ensured for this weekend, they would promote whos comming and whos not. Most people need to save and plan their speedway outings especailly if they intend on travelling, and this would be a great option for them to sellect a meeting cause 2 months out they know that such and such is going to be their, I think this could even be widespread down for local titles as well.
PROMOTORS then do what they are ment to do PROMOTE drivers who are attending, Press Realeases work with the media to ensure that the right people know whos doing what where......
It just makes sence RIGHT?

It just makes sence RIGHT? I get sick to the back teeth of going to meetings where you would swear the tracks have picked the entry list out of a hat. I don't know if this is due to drivers entering and not attending or tracks publishing a wish list, or a combo of both but it happens far to often. EDIT: Just talked to one high profile driver who was "entered" for Wanganui on Sunday who tells me "they knew I was never going to be there"

You would be surprised/shocked how many of the ideas mentioned on this site are already in the pipeline, but generally improvements take time and money, and quite importanntly they must also fit within the parameters of the rulebook. The online licensing was a prime example - it had to be shaped to fit within the rules, which wasn't easy to do.
Hopefully a number of remits that streamline the processes of the organisation will find favour with the members - assuming someone gets the time to write them before the April 21 deadline.....

Tim,
It is good to have some fresh ideas at the helm. I think as we all fight for the entertainment dollar it would be good if SNZ was at the forfront of inovation for the promotors.
Local, club champs should be on a page that SNZ host that can inform the drivers wats on where. I guess similar to what Macgors Calendar is it shows whats racing on what night, we just need to take that further with the inclusion on whos showing up based on the Online Entries. Maybe entries need to close a month out from the event?

MMM only problem I see with closing entrys a month out from the Event is the fact there would be more people entered that dont turn up. People would enter on the fact that at the moment Im not doing anything but something might pop up in a couple of weeks so Ill enter incase. Where as if it was 1 or 2 weeks out from the event they should 98% know what they are doing.

Say you pay $50 to enter if you don't turn up you well you pay $50 fine so lose double your entry fee and your stood down from racing for 21 days unless you have genuine reason ;D

Might be hard to police. But BOP as a travelling fan how many times have u been to meetings where the word on the street is that XY and Z are turning up only to find its Porry driving the WaterTruck from grid 2? This is surely going to help fans decide where to spend there entertainment dollar, and stop drivers saying I didnt get the form etc etc

I think a entry fee that is refundable on arrival would work. May have to work out a specific amount. $50 is too low in my opinion. Most would spend well over that in fuel to travel so may choose to flag the $50bucks and save on the fuel.
I also like the idea of a regularly updated list of entries on the tracks website. As entries are recieved they are put up and if a driver has to pull out a line can be put through the entry with a reason. I know some of the late withdrawl excuses may be a little fabricated, but the spectators will have a better idea who will be there, and spectators and promoters can see a trend (if any) of regular no shows.
