Yanks are entitled to run at the NZ Championship provided they meet the requirements of an overseas competitor i.e compete in 5+ meetings prior to the championships. Shouldn't be any drama's for our guys as the Outlaws schedule starts in February
It never ceases to amaze me how many people sit on the corners at a speedway event. Maybe it's just because I come from an open-wheel background but I have seen way too many things go over fences to park my backside on a corner. Sit on the straights folks.

Would loved to have gone down but the prospect of a 6-hour drive back to Auckland and work the next day did not appeal to me.
Will be driving down that way soon anyway for the Stockcar Teams in Wellington 27/28th December after attending Boxing Night at the Springs.

there were some spectacular accidents to keep the bloodthirsty happy but in general the racing was pretty poor in comparison to welly the week before. russel harris finally admitted that palmy was the narrowest track around, and the lack of racing room really showed with nick pedleys flip(on the straight percy, and it very nearly cleared the fence, very nasty). I talked to craig dolansky before hot laps and he said that left front over the pole line was probably going to be needed to pass as the track wouldnt have anything up high, unfortunatley he was right. I really try to be an optimist with sprint cars but I fear that the NZs at palmy are going to be a dustbowl of wrecked cars with not much passing.I hope Im proved wrong.

Dollanksy was removed from the results (second place) after the event, due to the crew having worked on the car during the orange light for the 6 or 7 car bingle in turn 1........so all others barring the winner move up one place from that posted earlier.
Peter Huijs was one lucky boy alright, as was Nick Pedley and the flag man. That fact that Sprintcars flick so much stuff meant the fans were well back in the turns tonight, which may have been a blessing.
Was great to hear Jamie McCarthy's expertise floating across the airwaves too...............and even saw Mr September enjoying the show. Was not an ideal track, but considering the weather they'd had it was mazing the even got a meeting in at all.

well worth the 30$ i think it was incredible Jamie is an awsome commentator hope he comes down for nz's, well now to the yanks wat can i say they are awsome logan on his fav track in nz just knew every inch of the track, sorry i missed one superstock race but they didnt have a 3rd heat due to they though rain was comming and was pretty late by then already, bad luck to pete hujis, nick pedley and greg pickrell, pickrell out early getting squeezed wide and hitting wall hard early in the night, i hope nz's will be like this as they were incredible

Given the patchy weather conditions big thumbs up to the palmy promotion for putting in such a big effort to make this show a goer, including apparently bringing in a chopper, and the four wheel drive club, to help get the track ready – well done.
But sadly I sense that no matter how much effort is put into preparing this track, in the big scheme of things PN its just is not suited for exciting sprinter racing for a constellation of reasons including the track being too narrow, not enough embankment, and a stockcar configured track surface.
Moreover having 22 cars in the A main is like to trying to put square pegs into round holes. It seems more often than not its the tail end cars that spin out in large fields on a small track. Are there proportionally more serious smashes at PN than other tracks?
Last week the Te Maura track gave Jonathan Allard an opportunity to put on an exciting crowd pleasing passing display. Did he pass a single car on Sunday?
Whew – those two major crashes. Lucky it was a relatively small crowd sitting high up in the stands. Had a small child been in the immediate area where Peter Huijs crashed who knows what the outcome. I think a few more reminders from the commentators to keep well back from the fence, particularly for the final, were in order.
Congratulations Ricky Logan on the win, a win on a flat left rear for much of the race.
How about Harrisville Speedway for the NZ’s?

harrisville would be great but can you imagine trying to seat all the spectators there..Peter an Nick and the flag man are so very very lucky ...and great camera work being able to see pete's incident on the big screen in slow motion was awesome ..all up a good night and i do believe the crowd got their money's worth.....And cosidering the carnage it there were not that many hold ups

Great camera work showing both crashes. And after all the great racing action, what's the bet that's all that would mkake it to TV. I dispute those saying there was no passing round the outside - Logan, Dollansky and co rounding up the back markers and blasting round the outside on the turns made it look easy. Considering the hand dealt to them by the weather gods, the palmy team did well and the track held up pretty well (unless you're a trike rider, they only got 1 race before it got a bit rough for them). Jamie McCarthy did an outstanding job in the commentary box, his knowledge and clear explanation of the intricacies of Sprintcar racing were a pleasure to listen to. And he's been invited back for the NZ's. Can't wait!
