Yes, I heard Jamie mention he'd be back for the NZ's.........that will certainly add to the show. I interviewed the 5 leading American's from the time trials on behalf of WS, and without fail they mentioned the narrow (and flat) nature of not just Palmerston North, but all New Zealand tracks.
I remember when the Outlaws were at Baypark in '06, they stated that THAT track was narrow. As Jonathon Allard (who was at Baypark in '06) commented last night, "they didn't see THIS place did they!!"
But they also all felt it was the same for everybody, and you just had to drive accordingly. And I think it's good to see the cars racing on different tracks. A few drivers shine on them all, other just at certain venues. And for all his great efforts at Palmerston North, where he drives a Superstock as well as a Sprintcar (will be in the Global Challenge again this season), Ricky Logan's record away from the place ain't too shoddy either.

Whew – those two major crashes. I'm still shaking my head thinking about them, 12 hours later. In the case of Pedley's crash, I cannot recall seeing a car stopping quicker for many a year...........a G force who two must have been felt there.

Was great to see Graeme Barr back racing a Superstock last night too.......another Taranaki ndriver with a P on the door however Appeared not to have lost too much talent either. A welcome addition to the ranks.............

The narrow nature of the straights at the majority of NZ tracks unfortunately dosent work well with a full field of modern day sprintcars and that is especially evident when you have a feild comprised of professionals, gifted locals and raw recruits.
The National Title will be decided on atrition and it wouldnt surprise to see a left field driver claiming the NZ1.
Personally i would rather see the A Main field for the Title capped at 16/18 cars which is a number that works well on our narrow tracks.

As an aside, has anyone mentioned 17b Pete Barry turning up for a race?
There were a few concerns after a quiet first race, but Barry roared into form in the 2nd, haveing a big dive at race 1 winner 557p Wallace, and took him in backwards. Wallace came back next lap to return the favour, and held 17b in the wall for a spell.
Barry came out the other side, and Rob Mason gave him a punt on the way through. He didn;t get far enough through, as Barry kept it pinned, and took 34p Mason hard into turn 3, barrel rolling the Rees chassis around the bend. A pretty good hit and a decent warm up for teams i would suggest.
And how about Scottie Miers turning up for a debut in the tank, and ran in the motor with the stockcars, running at half power before winding it upn in the superstock race.
I note Shane Penn had the two fastest lap times of the night. Interesting to see in both races with a just ran in motor the tank was 3/10ths slower.
A few more races, and that tanka will be on fire for the NZs i reckon. Be interesting to see if he can replicate the generals win there nearly 23 years ago.
