Was just reading the team GB website and it says They will be 13 teams contesting the event, split into 4 groups with the winners of each group along with the 4 next highest point scorers making up the 8 teams that will go through to the second day. The draw for the group will be made 2 weeks prior to the championship. How the are going to get 3.25 teams into each group i dont know It sould be quit easy, 3 groups with 3 teams and 1 with 4 teams. The group with 4 teams still have 2 races each but not with every team in there group. because its done on points the top 8 teams go to the second nite.

There is always a way when a promotion team is willing think outside the square. Unfortunately us Kiwi tend to be a bit resistant to change.

Well done Joedirt you have hit the Jackpot! It's actually 4 groups not 3 as above. In fact this format could be used for 14 or 15 Teams. Hope to have the draw on Powertools Motorsport on January 25th.
Should the top four Teams be seeded into separate groups and who should they be?

Yes. The four semi-finalists from last year, they are the ones that have done something to earn a seeding.

About blimmin time you answered, having fun watching us squirm good to see sanity prevail and the best option used, and yes the 4 seeded definatly the top 4 from last season oh and with that format it opens the door for the Wellington Wildcats next season.

if they do have 13 teams then that is a very good option. The other option would be to ever put the panthers or GB into the quarters and the rest fight it out for the 7 spots. That means three teams racers in one night. Big ask for any team but the format worked well for the stockcar teams event in palmy.

Why not try and increase the teams to 15 and have 5 groups of 3. Surely some of these bigger tracks like Christchurch, Nelson, Rotorua, Auckland can field a 2nd team or even a 3rd from Palmy. With the amount of numbers racing superstocks and this being the so called “glamour speedway class” at these tracks there must be more then 5 who want to teams race from there track? A reserve driver could be for either of there two teams. What about allowing the winners of the NZ Stockcar champs a entry, or a under 23 team, NI Team, SI team or a select team to try and make up 15 teams.
Format……Top 5 teams from each group. 3 highest scoring points teams straight to semi finals, 4th-5th placed teams have a teams race to get last semi final spot. If 3 teams are level on points the teams race is a 3v3v3 from each team….winner take all. This gives your final 4 teams.

I heard through the long grapevine that Dunedin was not going to enter a team... but could be wrong the latest news off the grapevine is the cougars are looking more likely now than they may have done earlier in the season. although they might not get to nelson for a growl at the tigers, all things are looking positive for an appearance at the palmy teams champs.
