........and I seem to recall in the UK they do start them in groups spread around the oval........ Correct Barry. Usually a couple of car lengths between each roof colour. Meaning the superstar grade drivers can be at the end of the back straight and almost 2/3rds of a lap down. However, we run with a rolling lap rather than clutch starts. Personally, I'd like to see a highbryd version of the two where it's a rolling lap but a closed grid formation - NASCAR style

Slightly off topic, but I hope rotorua give there team a big welcome back, they performed really well in Wellington, and were oh so close to the second night. This team has considerable potential, and I think will learn alot about playing for keeps after the Blenheim match up.
Back on top - Its probably a good idea to start running the superstocks like the UK style f1 cars in Rotorua. We all know how awesome FWJ is, and no doubt starting from the back has contirbuted to that significantly.
They could probably remove the rear wheel gates as well - will be interesting seeing the cars race like that. It make them a bit more cautious when rubbing in the turns, which will make for cleaner superstock racing in rotorua.
Do they let cars run on flat tyres over in the UK, or do they retire? I know its generally accepted that backmarkers move out of the way of the fast guys once they are a lap down. That might suit superstocks at rotorua as well.
Well done the ROtorua Rascals - they got stuck in and did there club proud on the national teams racing stage and were very close to a finals spot.

yeah and lets put shale and tarmac on our tracks Shale yes, tar NO! Tar racing is so clean now. The set up of UK cars is such that they corner like their on rails. The good old days of cars hanging it out in the bends, smoking their tyres is long gone. The contact element on tar in my opinion has suffered as a result. Shale racing still has the unknown element to it, mainly due to the changing nature of the track surface during a race, leading to more action. As one of the promoters here has on his website - dirt is for racing and tar is for getting there.
