does anyone have any pics of these cars, would be good to see them They are not UK stockcars, just normal New Zealand stockcars racing to the UK style graded format where the drivers are seeded and the top guys have to come from the back in EVERY race, the novices starting from the front........

Is this a toe dipper by SPANZ towards a nationwide UK style grading system for Superstocks or simply a novelty format dreamt up by the Hickey's??

Simply a Rotorua promotion I'd suspect.........was staged last year as well.

Cheers Barry. It seems that there appears to be a gradual notching up of the cross hemisphere exchanges in the last couple of seasons. First was FWJ's UK built NZ Superstock, then Peter Rees big splash here in the UK during his World Champs campaign in 07. Since then we've seen a steady trickle of drivers coming going to NZ during the winter for the 240's/248's. Now we've got a UK team for the Champs and the first (?) F1 Stock car built in NZ.

We live in hope that the promoters will see the light and start handicaping again instead of grid starts on normal racing nights.
That and the creation of a few Heroes and Villians may bring the crowds back.
Especially in contact racing WE WANT TO SEE THE TOP GUYS COME FROM THE BACK.

Exactly, and don't just start them from the back but even further around the track. As it stands now, even in a field size say in the mid-teens, the big horsepower runners pretty much push the rest out of the way in the first turn and take the lead down the back straight on lap 1. Obviously bigger fields would make this more difficult, but that's not going to happen anytime soon on a regular Saturday night show. A 1/2 lap handicap would slow that process down a little anyway........and I seem to recall in the UK they do start them in groups spread around the oval........

Would work well here in Welly I suspect where the normal nights field size is anywhere between 27 - 30ish.

I was thinking more about the Superstocks Rammer Jammer, where there is normally huge differences between the haves and the have nots on normal nights at the majority of tracks, but I think there's merit in handicapping not only all contact classes, but ALL classes........except for championships of course.

One of the problems of course is that there is hardly ever a normal meeting anywhere these days . Almost every meet is a championship of some sort or part of a series .
Probably why I'm starting to enjoy club nights more than the big meetings.

Each driver normally gets a Front, middle and back grid through out the night.
