If there is one consistency in speedway saloon racing it is the inconsistency of competitors and referees understanding / interpretation regarding, competitors failing to 'hold their line, blocking, shepherding etc'. EG: The yellow car has gone out wide and intends to slingshot across the apex of turns 1 & 2. The red car remains adjacent the pole line and moves into the space between the left rear of the yellow car and the pole line. The yellow car's rear comes down and contact is had with the right front of the red car. - Does the yellow car have the right to take up two lanes?
- Who is at fault?
- Should the red car have braked?
- Is the grey car allowed to force the orange car to brake or risk contact?
- Who is at fault should contact occur?
Our failure to understand the driving rules, the failure of SNZ to adequately educate drivers and officials regarding the rules is costing our sport in competitor numbers, competitors in unnecessary repair bills, spectators with unnecessary delays in racing, relationships strained with many lost!

i have heard this excuse many a times when i have come into contact with some one and we have ended up in the fence, happens in all classes, the competitor in yellow should have givin space as there is no way that vehicle would of held out the other car, well in 90 percent of the cases, but thats my view

When the rules says Hold "Your" Line is that the line you would normally take or a line adjacent to the pole line. If I was driving with no traffic around for a few laps driving the same line and then someone comes up the inside as the red car in the diagram, Even though I have been driving "MY" line, am I still at fault.

hate having to "hold the line" when i ring telecom.. that sucks.. but this whole thing is really confusing....just push them out of the way,oh wait,no contact allowed i dont see why the person in front who has the advantage would have to give way..

A reply is often, "that was my line, I always drive like that!"We all know drivers, may be one of them, that consistantly drive sideways through corners effectively blocking the whole track width, drivers who sweep from the pole to mid track or the wall exiting a turn ( blue car) then cut across your bows as you approach the next turn. This is often repeated lap after lap to the frustration of following cars.

Too true Nellie. The "Late Model" race line is considerably different to the "Super Saloon" race line (the LM's make the corner radii rather larger). Will be interesting to see conflict resolution in practice.

The other one Grandad is " over aggressive driving".
If you throw your car sideways, say at the start of the corner and the rest drive around, you are guilty.
Also most corners are wider than the straights so where do you measure from?
The pole line or the wall?
If you are in the middle and the person is outside and runs out of track coming out of the corner, who's to blame?
