I would love to see NZDT mag: Go glossy, in a standard mag format the likes of Street Machine, NZV8, Performance Car, Hot 4's etc.. Have focus articles on speedway cars (like the mags above do with their chosen vehicle type..) Have a monthly poster - my shed is covered with Street Machine mag posters... Have a monthly tech article, How To.. (car setups, installing something) Project cars, like NZ Hotrod currently does.. Track profiles / maps love your idea thats wat it needs to be like

Why fix something that isn't broken? Imagine if Rutherford, the Wright brothers or Henry Ford took that line. Rutherford split the atom which lead to the nuclear arms race currently being persued by our communist and islamist friends, the Wrights claimed the credit for something Richard Pearce tried out in a Canterbury field and really only achieved what Adam Air and Garuda perfected in several Indonesian fields - the bad landing. As for Ford... well... if Henry decided to darn socks for a living instead, then life would be Holden versus Chrysler and the Falcon would have never been...... Status quo for me, its good as it was and no need to change except.... Yes. This is the main folly of the publication. The writeup of the NI Midgets was half of page 3, with a conclusion (5 paragraphs)on page 28. Half of page 3 was a restrospective from 1989 and 1999. I'm also missing the action shots that used to appear on the inside half of the front cover which is given to advertising now.

Love it the way it is. In fact a subscription will be my next birthday present. Pain in the ass having to get a mate to get it for me each month from some obscure book and toy store. I read it cover to cover except for the euro and US stories. No need for them, NZ Dirt Track, not NZ and a bit of the world Dirt Track. How to's and random driver profiles would be great. I too don't like the way stories are continued over many pages, eg start on page 6 then turn to 23 for the end. I find the price very fair for how much reading I get out of it. Don't mind big write ups on small tracks if they are written well. One pet peeve is being told names, sometimes numbers but not what they drive. Just some of my thoughts.

Simple people if ya don't agree with the mags format, quality don't renew or buy it. Have enjoyed the mag since late 80's.
Change is good if for the right reasons.

Your sentiments are typical of many in the speedway fraternity when it comes to genuine discussion or feed back and to be blunt its pathetic, especially when its guys like yourself who will be the ones to miss out when financial realities cause publications or tracks to shut the doors.

Not passed its use by date, I just feel some minor tweaking will enhance. I read the latest one before I decided to comment. For me like others the layout is confusing at times and it can be hard to read when you have to go between pages. I feel putting in a speedway calendar showing what is on this month/ next month would be beneficial. While it is great on Macgors sometimes you cant take the computer/ laptop with you ;D

While we pontificate on the merits of NZDTR the chances that any of the issues raised will be taken onboard would be remote, given the Editors attitude in regards this site and the people who contribute to it.

She is aware we are discussing her magazine. Like from the outset, it just has to move with the times.....

so not only you are attacking the Editor now its contributors? Lyndas attitude in regards this site was established in an editorial a while back and the contributors im referencing are members of this board, not contributors to NZDTR.

99 percent here are contributors to the NZDTR, there have been gripes mentioned about the other so called glossy mags yet no one has attempted to put their opinions on how to change them, the majority that what changes to glossy are open wheel people, apart from Screamin demon and that was a shock coming from him, though it may be different if he wasn't a contributor?, I like the Dominion I dont like the layout of the jaffa paper the nz herald I dont read that much these days especially with the internet, only one thing I agree on is keeping the pieces together instead of going a few pages to read the rest, but thats just nothing major to gripe about, how hard is it to turn a few pages?

It's the same old story, you can't please everyone - but I think for the majority of people the Dirt Track is fine how it is, if you go glossy you go to a much higher price and that limits the amount of people that can purchase the magazine and get enjoyment out of it...it's been going for years now and it has lasted the test of time, I reckon it's a stayer and Lynda know's what she is doing and has achieved the right results so far so it's her business so let her get on with how she wants to run it...it is all easy for us with no financial interest in it to decide what is best...personally we belive the Dirt Track and it's contributors do a great job for speedway in NZ.

How about we put our heads together and put forward some ideas that will not make the NZDTR more expencive.
if you make it gloss it will cost more and just look like all the other mags on the shelf, it stands out on a shelf as it has a dififrent look.
Also why is it that Speedway NZ don't put forward anything to contribute to the mag, they have fantastic writer at the helm, let him use his gift...

Tim S definitely has a way with words both in print and as a speaker,I feel a regular column from him,as well as a spokesperson from the CTRA and the Northland group of tracks would make excellent reading.

Personally, the NZ Dirt Track is my Bible. Since it's birth every month I have looked forward to my read from cover to back and think that Lynda and the team round the coast have done an awesome job. This magazine is no "get mega rich scheme" it's printed for you the Speedway fan of New Zealand.
