Yes, E.S. Titans were very impressive in their last race, Rotorua had no answer to the pace and the hits that were dished out, was probably the best clash of the night.
Their semi against Welly will be one tough race i'm picking, with Blenheim having nothing to lose and everything to gain from here on in, they'll give it everything.
Welly were tested by the Alleycats but kept their heads and came away with a win and every car finished, even after one was rolled big time but landed on its wheels and was able to get it refired and kept going till the end and still getting stuck in to the Jaffas.
Welly were always in control against Waikato (Huntly), Darren Grey was unstoppable at the front pushing cars out of the way on his way to the flag and the others were running rings around them to.
On tonights form I think the winner of these champs is gonna be the one that wins this semi final, and I wouldnt be suprised if all the north island teams find themselves doing a bit of a boat trip next year just quietly.

plamy in a class of there own, looking really good, Blenhem what a team drove like there's no tomorrow great to see.
"no official result for the auckland vs wellington result. auckland cleaning up on points 165 in the 1st, 2nd could be intresting if wellington are strip of points in that race......
the last race was great huntly vs wellington. wellington win but huntly winning the hitting, man some big hit, hutch went in really hard turn one but drove away, ?
"bits of hutch's coil over and spring went into the crowd hit a lady, looks to came off with at worst a broken leg " hope you get well soon" once again a reminder what can happen at speedway.

What happened in the Welly v Auck race that could cause Welly to loose their points?

Yep, Palmy should be the other finalist, they looked the better organised out of the other side of the draw, but I still cant see them getting past Welly or Blenheim on tonights showing.

What odds would you have given just a couple of years ago of someone saying, and in all seriousness, I can't see Palmy getting past Blenhiem.

Goes to show how important the draw is really. I think that Auckland would have gone close to wining any other group tonight.
The plate semis will be interesting , both with good match ups. I think if AK don't lose the good thing they had going they will be hard to beat.

Was there a change to the semi finals that i have missed? I have the official programme from the meeting and it has the winner from...Red V Green and Yellow V Blue. Which means a HB v E and P v W semi finals

Which means a HB v E and P v W semi finals Its a mis print, I don't know how it happened but it has. Its the typical teams format of A V B & C V D. we pointed it out at the drivers meeting and also a few times thru the nite on the P.A. This is the same way that has been listed on the welly site over the last few weeks.

I think Wellington are in their 7th final appearance going by the website (states 6). Any way Auckland looked really impressive and waikato were no easy beats. ( I dont believe any of the opposition were on the lead lap)
Out of all the teams I would say hawkesbay did what was needed to get to the semis but will need to step it up big time. Thought they lacked the pace
Palmy is starting to dwell nicely
Young guns and titans are very similar in styles so it may come down to experience. Ever way whoever wins, at least there is only 20 min to Te Marua or 4 hours difference from the rest. But what I saw Welly are going to be hard to beat.
Go the young guns

Zac Thompson from Blenheim dished out the punishment in his green beast against Rotorua. Some very big hits. Just when ya think the car has had enough he drives over the front of a couple of opposition cars and keeps on trucking. A beast of car and driven hard out. The semi's are going to come down to car survivability.
If the bay are content to let the runners go and then bash them into submission they might come off second best against Palmy who have a bit more pace. The Welly vs Blenheim clash has the makings of a great race. I think Welly will come out on top of that one but will be a close run thing with plenty of damage.

My take on last nite - excellent racing and very enjoyable. Got to meet a few people ( The Professor, what a character !, Ramjam briefly on his way to a drivers meeting and Rose Halfpennys dad who was, like Rose nervously awaiting her stockcar to turn up as the person who was trailering it down had a puncture on the way and hadnt arrived as of 5pm ). Great programme at $8 ( colour and 70 odd pages ), Tshirts were fantastic although expensive at $40 ( Wife bought one ). Racing was great and one of the highlights for me was the Alleycats beating Huntly easily ( no cowbells after that Waikato supporters ! ;D ). In fact the Raiders were the disappointing team of the nite and didnt seem to have a plan on how to combat either Auks or Wgtn. Great to see ESS go so well and race with absolute comittment for each other. All 4 semi finalists deserved their place in the semis. Couldnt really hear the commentary that well ( main stand ), might have been the speakers in front of us. When we moved later in the nite the commentary was good from turn 3 and will have to make sure we pack our radio to get all the updates as we missed a lot last nite. The disapointments of the nite was that there was no support classes and that it took 3hrs 15 mins to race just 12 races ! The gaps between races IMHO were just too large and meant that the meeting had no real flow. Lets hope that with the DHL series running tonite as well that there is cars lined up on the dummy grid while there is racing on or we will not be leaving Hutt speedway before midnight ! At $20 the meeting represented very good value and I gave it a 8.5 out of 10. Really looking forward to nite two, trying one of the hot dogs and enjoying some sensational racing
