About time to share it round then ;D Good on them for what they have achieved. If they win again then it will be well deserved and I will congratulate them. For me ESS or the Bay would be my preference. Regardless I am sure the racing will be fantastic !

I thought they did well in the 2nd race, in fact like most fans we thought they had won. I know sections of the crowd booed because like me they were surprised with the results.

You know theres gonna be hurting, and you know theres gonna be damage. Anyone who puts cars and bodys and bank balances on the line gets the thumbs up from me. When you check out the results of the last three teams events, you can at least say Stratford have been consistant. I'm sure there will be more planning going on on to improve performances in the future.

Excellent racing The experience of P Rees for the Pumas D Robertson for the Young Guns stood out ,and showed they are a massive key to their teams sucsess .Ron Tye took an absolute hammering ,still came back for more ,,that man is bloody awsome .The Alley Cats where a hard charging team and if they can keep that team together ,there looking good Those 2 tanks in the Raiders ,Alley cats great ,and can they take a hit ,still keep going Mad Martys Raiders team where abit of a dissapointment The Vulcans promised heaps ,failed to deliver Stratty boys gave it their all Rotorua boys always seem to fall at 2nd last hurdle Titans and Gladiators went awsome ,getting better each year The match ups in the semis will be a ripper. Those Titans boys looked very impressive ,but so did the Welly boys Pumas and the Maulers will be a step from the 1st night as both wernt extended in their wins.

Was an awesome nights racing - and a fantastic result, some unexpected qualifiers in both the titans and the pumas. Unexpected before the meeting, but man watching them on the track they both looked dominant. Wellington took possibly more damage than I've seen before, but man, there experiance showed, half through a race it can look a bit hairy, then they step up to the plate and take control. Still have to be raging hot favourites. HB bounced back strongly after they admitted disapointment with there recent performances in Huntly and PN. IN fact, I would say thats been there most impressive first night at teams since they started. And talk about a turnup for the books - Pete Barry winning two races for the Maulers! The rematch (if it happens) between Barry and Robertson will be worth the entry fee alone! Its going to be wide open between 4 even teams I reckon - but as above, Wellington will still have to be favourites. I'm happy to have two teams to barrick for, fingers crossed one of them makes the final since they are on opposite sides of the draw! After my first teams racing expreiance this year I came away from racing Blenheim marvelling at there intensity, ability to finish off cars, yet still get 4 + cars accross the line at the end. There experiance over the last 3 years at wellington with essentially the same team is really starting to show. They, along with WEllington are probably the most ruthless teams out there - I havn't seen a team divebomb opposition cars like that since Wellington ripped into HB in the final last year. I guess the question has to be will the cars and bodies take another night of it? For those northerners unfamiliar with the Blenheim Titans, here is a portion of the Eastern States Speedway dedicated to the team - some great photos from last year, and shows the pride the province and track has in the team. www.easternstatesspeedway.co.nz/titans_0708.htmlIf your not at Te Marua tonight your not a stockcar fan i reckon! see you there, will be a sellout if last night is anything to go by.

Peter Rees certainly did made sure he was the target for the opposition by getting himself so heavily involved taking on 2 or 3 cars at a time, he was so effective at doing it that the other teams didn't even see the 5P car turning laps virtually untouched.
Hawkes Bay, Welly or the Titans aint gonna fall into that trap though, its gonna be much more intense tonight and the hits will be twice as hard.
The Young Guns look better than last season already but not as dominant as the season before that.

The disapointments of the nite was that there was no support classes and that it took 3hrs 15 mins to race just 12 races ! The gaps between races IMHO were just too large and meant that the meeting had no real flow. The meeting was billed as the NZ Stockcar Teams Champs why ever would there be support classes on the qualifying night? If you go to the teams champs to watch the support classes you cant be a true blue stockcar fan. The gaps between the races were just the right length for a toilet or drinks break and meant that no important action was missed by the avid fan needing those facilities. They also gave the commentators time to give the crowd information, points and placings that's what its all about not flow. Most fans would rather have a longer meeting than one where everything is over in a flash.

Maybe it should be spelt out in a bit simpler fashion, This is the Young Guns record, Welly, Palmy, Baypark were the venues and beside that shows where they finished in that event, not hard to understand is it. No calculator needed, just the ability to read.
Go the Young Guns for "4" in a row.

Wot i find pathetic is the way all these people like to sit on there asses watchin, critcising every1 when they themselves are not willing to give it a try it makes me wonder why i would try and bring such a prestigious title to such an unsuportive club. The team put there bodys there cars on the line needless to mention the financial strain it puts on us. I just hope some of these armchair races think about the time effort and commitment put in by all the drivers the families and the pit crew and there families.
personally i would just like to thank every1 who helped us out and mum and dad

No knowtoomuch I am not a true blue stockcar fan nor in my recollection have I ever been to a nites racing with just one class racing and I have been to a fair amount of speedway over the years. This is my first time at the NZ stockcar champs and it is a minor criticism in what was a great nite of racing. As for not having flow at a meeting I totally disagree. Glad you see it differently as it is just my opinion for what it is worth

Rebel1 if you head to palmy for the Superstock Teams in feb you will see the same thing. 12 Teams Races or maybe more depending on how many teams there will be.
This is normally due to the damage and time it takes to check the track for all the bits of the cars that have come flying off during the racing. And it means you dont get hotdog classes at the top meetings.

My first time at Te Marua and what a cool little track. Great positioning at the bottom of a valley and plenty of unique character. Not much seating capacity though and being so far out of town it doesn't look like the place attracts the huge crowds.
The track surface was outstanding last night and the shape of the track looks to lend itself to all classes. It reminded me of Huntly except it's wider, has more banking and isn't as tight. I'm looking forward to seeing the DHL Saloons tonight as I think the class will be electric.
For me the highlight was the outstanding performance of the Auckland Team. An unheralded lineup that showed great knowledge of teams tactics and great commitment. They deserved the victory against Waikato after targetting 97h and gave Wellington a bit of a shakeup before succumbing. If they perform to the same level tonight the Auckland team will be in serious contention for the Plate.
The only lowlight for me was the lap scoring system failure and subsequently the commentary team weren't able to provide fans with the information one would normally expect. Oh, and having to sit in front of some brainless local teenages and some equally brainless Blenheim fans.
Speaking of Blenheim, very impressed with the team. I think Meannee will be found out tonight against quality opposition but I can see any of the other three teams winning.
In saying that I have a suspicion that the Young Guns will do it again.
Go Auckland.
