Any feedback regarding the DHL Saloon Series at Te Marua appreciated.
Track conditions? Standout stars? Incidents?

Track is in superb condition Murray, Twogood and Williams looking like the pick of the field, cant remember to much about the heats, think Twogood one first with Williams from the back getting thru to about 3rd or 4thish and Williams off grid one in the 2nd cleaned up.
1st dash had Twogood in 1st and Williams 2nd, 2nd dash saw a persistent drive up high from 96d ( I think it was a "d" anyway), rewarded with an excellent 1st place finish.
Sorry, didn't stick around for the feature, left the track at 11.10pm after the final stockcar teams race with a very tired Mr 7 yawning his head off, but would imagine with Twogood off 1 and Williams off 3 it would of been between them two for the chequered flag.
Only a couple of minor incidents up until the feature anyway

i belive twogood won the feature, with willams being relegated to the rear after causing a stoppage thru spining, and then his night went from bad to worse with another spin and then finally parkin his car in the wall, excellent saloon racin all night, was good to see.but i didnt see 77k out on the track all night, car trouble? ?? the 2nz car was good to watch with some impressive round the outside driving.the track held up well and seemed to get better as the sun went down.good luck to all with the rest of the sieries.(its late and i cant think to spell) overall for the night;1st towgood 2nd the dunedin car 3rd ?

... Murray it appears to me you are missing this series a bit Regards Phil Promoter (Cromwell) "MORE THAN A BIT!". I would be lying if I said I wasn't! The series includes excellent tracks and associated members, officials & spectators. The number of DNF's sums up and vindicates my hard decision to withdraw. Our meagre resources and credit card are for racing and travelling, not repairs! When racing 7 nights in a row, on the road 2-4 hours each day to get to the next track, the stress associated with repairs is huge and to be avoided.

Murray, 77K broke a timing chain at Meeanee, we found a new one and fitted it at the track in Welly but as I suspected he now has some bent valves. He is going to remove the heads today and Bryan Hartley has said he will fix them so hopefully he will be back tonight. Mal 112H is supposed to be fixed again tonight also, he bent the diff and other random damage at Gisborne. I know what you mean about the traveling and the expense, we are just carting around the ministock and have no damage so far, but the lack of sleep gets to you. Still we dont have far to go tonight, it's a home track.

Track was dry and slick and a little dusty. It was a good racing track for the class with two lines available and they put on a fantastic show. Unfortunately the Wellington promotion and the officials forgot there were some fans in attendance and ran the meeting on Fiji time. They got behind schedule and simply refused to do anything about so the Saloons ran their feature in front of a quarter fill stadium after 11pm.
Star for me was the 96d entry and his relentless pursuit of the high line. 2nz was also pleasing to watch, having to start the feature at the rear after an incident in the dash.
48a Phil Towgood led the feature from start to finish after a commanding win in his dash. Towgood was under pressure early in the race from 21h Steve Williams but just as Williams looked to have secured the inside line he spun, the first of three stoppages caused by the 21h.
There was a bizarre incident in the feature when 45m Paul Cressy was ordered to go back two spots under yellow. I'm not sure of the reasoning but he was already in the correct spot per the last completed lap. He refused, had a chat with the official and promptly drove to the infield and spun the tyres. Not too sure what that was all about but it looked like the offcials got it wrong to me.
I don't think our top guys have too much to worry about with the Aussie Sidecars. They were quick without being outstanding. Don't really know who was who as the commentators failed to provide much info but I believe it might have been the Moon/Ing combination that looked to be the best.

I was in the commentary box for 5 mins before the meet, 20 mins after the meeting and the infield for the rest of the night, I believe the handwritten list given to Justin in the box may as well have been written on a postage stamp and speaking of postage stamps... the numbers on the bikes were bloody hard to read from the infield. I am guessing that with them entered the NZ champs the needed to do the required (5?) meetings, so they were given a run at welly.
