Not speedway?
Well it sure isn't Circuit, rally or jet boats. It seems this 'pure' speedway rubbish seems to be a similar conversation line some years ago when ministocks were also flouted as not 'pure' or 'proper' speedway. And what are ministocks attributed to doing directly?
Hugely encouraging the young to a great hobby called speedway. Once nurtured, the 'purists' are only to keen to acknowledge any new graduate into whatever new class he or she may have chosen despite from where their 'non pure' roots.
What am I on about?
Derbys and more especially jalopy races, can and do encourage people of all shapes and sizes (as documentated) to the speedway track - no matter how non pure, and MAY, just MAY be the first stepping stone to careers beyond any imagination. Of course this WONT happen if the non inclusive want to prance around the pure and non pure rant every time something new or something they may not be fond of, is brought to media attention. And that, it HAS done.
Can the 'purists' please inform me of a recent speedway event that has had more publicity in the last 12 months or even longer. Why are the Teams nationals or similar not featured at prime time in either sport or documentary form, and if not, why not? Why does a 'lesser' form then seemingly appeal?
Get your head out of your bum and see the potential events like this can have for the sport. Stop knocking and start praising the fact that, yes it was not the best promo for speedway ever made, but why can't you see the potential?
Wandering minds sure as eggs are wondering.
Hooncorp.

Not having a dig at you, Hoon, just the ASSCC committee and its interpretations.

Well Said Mike,
We might be one eyed as we had so much fun in the last two smashfests with all the things (antics) that were going on. Hats off to the ASSCC for steping outside the rules (and getting punished) for what has now become an annual event with the next one April 11 this year! Its all go for Smashfest 09 with the FBT expected to be reunited where it all began........

I couldn't believe the guy with the cable tied plastic mesh on his windscreen. He was telling his passanger that if he needs to get out, to kick the mesh out and he can climb through the window. Maybe I don't know what i'm talking about but I figured that if you can kick the mesh out, how the hell is it supposed to stop anything coming in???
