Hey Guys,
I’m after a bit of history on a certain car, it’s the ex 19p of Jamie Goodlass.
Now I know it was imported from the states and driven a couple of times by USA Scott Young as advised from Pete Huijs, but were there any other drivers? Also how did it run with the yank in it over there and over here? I cannot find any prior history on it before Jamie, like any information and/or photos of it. It’s not even mentioned on Scott Young’s Website.
Cheers Mike

With the amount of used US junk thats landed in the country over the last 3 or 4 years, you would be hard pressed to document any actual or factual US history for the majority of it.
Especially when a cars "history" and or "pedigree" is decided on once the junk hits the country and is used as nothing more than a tagline to get top dollar.

To all that are interested, I sent an email to Scott Young about this topic. For all those that don't know who Scott Young is, www.scottyoungracing.com--> Hi Scott, I was wondering if you could help me. Recently i have purchased a roller here in New Zealand and I'm after a bit of history on it. It is the 2003? Eagle that was brought over here by George Cruise from Coastline imports in 2005. From my understanding, you may have driven it over here as on the spare bonnet it still has your name. I could never tell of its potential and know one else knows. Do you have any recollection of ever racing it? do you remember any tricks and set up tips? were there any other drivers? what engine package did you run? - as i still don't have an engine package yet as i don't have any sponsors and so far its taken a toll on the back pocket, but soon. I really want as much information as possible on it as this is a new step for myself, as so far i have only raced NZ Stock cars (which is a full contact sport), after my second concussion (shown below) i have decided to move to Sprint cars. The car itself now is in relatively great condition, as its just been striped, flogged parts replaced, freshly re-powder coated and painted. any information would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Mike Gray Mike, Yes I had a 2000 eagle that George Cruise took along with $10,000.00 worth of parts that he never paid for. I was to drive that car for him over there but after the trailer full of parts left my shop we no longer had contact with him except for once, when he threatened me to stop trying to get his money. We have pursued legal action but it became a foreign trade issue. I would suggest mot buying anything from him..... As far as the car I had it was new in 2000 probably had 30 shows on it. we run 410 engines No tricks to it basic set up 1000's and 1025's Best of luck to you Scott <-- So George Cruise is not doing New Zealand relations any favors. I'f you would like me to post the reply's once received it, just let me know and i will stick them up. Cheers Mike Gray

Unfortunately what you have encountered is an experience many people have had with the guy concerned and he was the basis of my original post to this thread.
Personally,i would salvage any half way decent componentry thats part of the roller package and junk the rest, along with the chassis.

Mike the car you have did run real good for Jamie and as its a feeder car for you i believe you should talk to Peter Hujis and Jamie before getting all down hearted with what you get told on here as you already own this car why not buy a good engine put it in this chassie and get some track time in once you outdrive this car buy a new one then put your engin ito that as the chassies are the cheap part (import it yourself as there is more than one ripoff agent out there or buy a updated car off someone thats running one here that you can see what your getting , dont be afraid to ask around theres not many guys racing that wont give you the info you need) cheers Martin Halcrow

well I guess that shows what the man is like, my view on the man still is he is not a person to buy from and one must now ask why Macgors advertise his gear when there is a court order stopping him from selling anything

Hey Marty, I'm not down hearted at all. I am very happy with my purchase as the car its self (for its age) is very straight and in very good condition! And yes - it's a huge stepping stone for myself and i believe i got a very good deal and with a small amount of sponsorship funding i can get an engine and have it put together quite cheap. key word being 'funding'. Also my family has always been in the mindset of races are won in the garage, all our past cars, weather it be - superstock or stockcar, they have been well presented, and i this is what i aim for, so if this sprintcar was rubbish - in my view - its not now. From what i take of DTM1 attitude is that he had a bad dealing with George and now hates anyone that has ever delt with him, then delt with them, and so on and so on. What do you race now DTM1? it must be a magnificent machine for you to call other cars rubbish, lol. All i was really after was some info, but hey - all good, Mike.

Mike ive had zero dealings with GC and i dont see why my comments in this thread have caused you to bristle.
I dont know where you get the "hate" tag from as i dont hate either MR C,or anyone who has ever had the misfortune to have dealt with him...really strange comment that one.
However,i have seen the junk that has been sold into the NZ market by MR C and usually with "histories" attached that are fabricated purely to get the stuff sold.....you only need to look at the disparity between the reported history of the chassis you have and the true history.....in effect, you're the second person to be sold down the river based on what you have bought.
I dont race, but ive got plenty of knowledge in regards openwheel equipment and thats what i base my comments on as far as MR C is concerned and the junk hes sold.

All good, it was just the way that both your post read, don't worry about it.
To be honest, the car only being three years older than thought - is getting off pretty light compared to some stories we have all heard.
Being three years older doesn't mean that its done more shows than what was originally thought So no loss there. Also i now know its only ever had two drivers - IRA champ Scott Young who raced it for only 30 shows and 19p Jamie Goodlass who raced it for 2 NZ seasons, so from my understanding, on-track years, its not that old. ;D

The age of a chassis is of just as much importance as the amount of action it has seen, primarily due to the fact that its what you cant see that can cause the problems.
Follow Martys advice get a solid motor and use what you have got as a starting point and make sure that you ask people for help in squaring and setting the car.

what a load of rubbish if the chassis is two years old and never raced is it the same as a car that has raced for two . do not talk trash it is guys like you that dishearten other drivers, that have brought second hand cars not all second hand cars are bad deals you just have to check and ask older drivers who will tell you. I wish that some of you guys that have a lot to say about know something. the truth is GC does not tell the truth and has mislead some guys

I got in a 2001 eagle combo midget last year from the states. It is the biggest gamble as to if you get what you think you are paying for. After looking around what was available here in NZ it was a deal not to be missed. I got the car here and it had exactly what he said it was. I was lucky. At least buying here you can see the car and spares. Whoever you are getting it off dodgy or not. You can judge if its junk yourself. So long as the chassis is sound and legal, getting track time is more important than having the best of the best. Good luck
