I was sorting through some old stuff and came across the program for the caravan race / demo derby rom last year. In it I noted that the Saloons were stood down from the meet. Given how rare it is to have a class stood down at BP it hadn't occured to me they might this weekend. But it would make sense to stand down the Super Saloons with the champs down south.
Has anyone heard anything?
PS Demo derbys I can pass on, but those caravan races really are fun to watch. ;D

All he can do is run with what he gets. Lots of the punters coming though the gates tomorrow will be coming for demolition derby and boat race, and will leave happy. Still lots of Super Saloons and Stockcars left up here for good feilds. Let us know how it goes.

Willie was on More FM this morning and when asked which classes were running Willie named all classes including both Super Saloons and Stock Cars.

Just looking at few of the other calendars at various neighbouring tracks.
Rotorua - not racing Auckland - not racing Huntly - racing but hopefully wont be running super saloonsas the have a championship to run Western Springs - not racing.
Mini stox - Stand alone. Always sufficient local cars.
Saloons - Pretty much stand alone, may be a few visitors. Would be good to see visitors allowed to race as the locals have been a little light over the last few meetings.
Stock cars - May be Rot visitors and our non travelling cars. Have had a few cars away over xmas, under 23's and teams and they have still managed to put on a decent show.
Super saloons - Hopefully the Flynn boys may come back seeing as they not down South. Auck, and Huntly (if stood down) supers may come for a play, and add our non travelling supers so may not be too bad.
Sprinters - Western Springs not running and not scheduled elsewhere may mean that they turn up to run with the 15ish we have. Could end up with more than the GP title. :-)
Caravan race and derby - Last meeting it was suggested 10 caravans, 2 boats and an out house were entered and 60 cars for the derby.
Trying not to get to excited. Once again the potential is there for a top meeting. We will see what eventuates. Somebody in the know may be able to add more and confirm drivers attendance. I am just sumising and wishful thinking.
I suppose it will depend on who wants to, and who is allowed to play in Willies sand pit. I would be interested to hear if anybody's request to race at BP is declined.

I really do think that Baypark need another class. Track like huntly and Rotorua have around 8 classes and and have other classes in for invation meeting as well.

Thanx Waikatobop. Hopefully their are some supers coming over if they all not down south. I haven't paid to much attention to the entry list as I can't be there and it will only upset me.
BP only need an extra class when some of their cars are away at championships and that class should possibly stood down. The five classes they run usually ends up running close to curfew, and I doubt there is any way to speed it up as the meetings are very efficiently run. (see not always negative). Due to the fact that most championships are run at this time of year it would be hard to get a fill in class if to say the super saloons were stood down.
If it was to happen then there is the problem of what class. BP is big and wide. Unless there is 26 cars, super stocks (IMHO) won't work. Nothing bike wise would work with the clay (and holes), It's hard enough to get a decent field of mods together anywhere at the mo, Streetstocks are few and far between, and classes are usually running championships elsewhere at this time of the season.
I think the obvious choice would be prior arranging of midgets. However in another thread in the open wheeler section Bryce Townsend has approached the promtion 3 times and been told no.
Maybe a decent tq field or even at a pinch 25-30 mini sprints.
Or maybe with comparing other calendars (Western Springs not runnin major dollar sprintcar meeting)a one night sprintcar GP. Stand down supers saloons or stocks depending who had better numbers, Split the 40 sprinters in to two heats, marble draw and reverse of that for both groups, add points and top 24 into 25 lap final. 5 sprintcar races, and you could even have a pole shuffle if so inclined or needed to add to the programme, but I wouldn't think you would be far from curfew anyway if there were a few crashes.

Gilby suggested on another post that that meeting was the 17th and that is backed up by the calendar on PN website suggesting Jan 10th no racing, so I went with that. I can't find a Nth Island track running sprinters this week.
