I have posted this in another thread but then thought darn it after everyones crizzling about events over the last 2 Months. I thought it deserves its own post and people should stop hiding and critisizing other people and tracks for events run.
Most of us that put on or help organise events are all VOLUNTEERS who get no reward whatsoever for the countless hrs and money put into a Speedway season let alone the cost to ourselves and Families for doing so..
So by all means use this site for whatever you like but dont hide under some alias so that no one knows who you are because IMHO you are just not worth it.
Kind Regards Phil 95T Promoter

I am with you on that Phil. I for one have stood up and volunteered to help at our club. If I didn't do that, what right have I got to say anything about what goes on. Without the help of these VOLUNTEERS, the clubs would not even be there. The old saying goes.... Stand up or shut up!

Hi Phil
About time someone said something positive i think, we have been travelling the south island for the past 10 days taking in various speedway meetings along the way and it must be said that as far as organisation, efficiency and atmosphere go you and your team win by a country mile.
We couldnt have been more impressed last night by the way the meeting was run, the facilities for a smaller track were great, the food was by far the best we have had at any track in the south, where else in the country can you watch a speedway meeting whilst drinking a latte and eating a box of beautifil Cherrys!!
The meeting was run extremely efficiently, there was no un-due delays, the crowd were kept fully informed as to what was happening and the commentary was informative, clear and concise.
When we had to ask for directions from your volunteers they were very welcoming and more than happy to assist.
I am not qualified to comment on the state of the track as from what i can see thats the only real issue that people are having but from what we experienced last night everything else about the meeting was by far the best we have experienced in the south.
Keep up the great work Phil (& Team) and dont let the turkeys get you down
Regards
Natalie

I also agree with you Phil. The work undertaken in the organizing and running of a meeting no matter what size is all done by volunteers who are usually stretched to their limits dividing their time between speedway and life outside of speedway. Knowing how much work is involved and how short most tracks are for volunteers it is disheartening as a driver to see all those club members who just sit out in the crowd watching, when even just 3 or 4 of them would make a difference. They are usually the first to criticize when something doesn't go to plan. To all those that do volunteer their time a big thanks!

Hey Phil,You guys in Cromwell deserve a big pat on the back for what you've achieved with your track & club over the past few seasons. ie New wall, lights, track etc.It wasn't that many years ago that Cromwell track was on the brink of extinction, had it not been for a small group of keen & dedicated people then there would not be the facility there is today. Again well done and good luck to all concerned for tonight.

Great to see good comments coming for a deserving club who have gone from running the left over champs to running quaility titles with people often saying what a great event it was not only on track but off track as well.Splosh without fear of unsetting you ,you have been very critical and quite scathing of people and clubs/tracks/events on a regular basis and then you suddenly have nothing but praise in the next posting? As YOU DO KNOW it is a momoth task commiting to a NZ title or any event and trying to get hundreds of people to all play ball in the 1 place.I have raced and watch at some great meetings in your home town dunners and a few very poor meetings and realise that you just dont get it right everytime for 1 reason or another.Cromwell have been the also ran club in the wilderness for many years and dedacated members and public along with the drivers that remember just how good racing is at this track just wont let it die.Its a real forest gump story with the club being like forests life restricted, picked on,challanges galour and finally comes good.Just remember" lifes like a box of chocolates you never know what your gonna get" but you sure can help by buying the ones people like eating.

Top stuff Phil. I was asked to be an SNZ official at our track. I am now into my second season as an assistant steward & will be taking over from Don Ritchens after this season. I have found it to be quite a rewarding job, although from time to time it gets a bit hard. But that is what it is all about. I also help out with the club when ever I can as well. Without all of us who do our little bit or big bit, our sport would not survive.
Cheers, David Anstis

Why is it that NO-ONE on here can understand that posting on this board is an annonymous practice....... This gets brought up time and time again - dont hide behind a non-de-plume, yet where is there any proof that, for example David Anstis is in fact David Anstis? ? (he could be Steve Kinser for all we know) To carry on from that, I wouldnt actually have the foggyest who David Anstis is in any case......even if I was staring him in the face....... I know this post isnt directed solely at Cromwell - but most of us on here know Phil95t (if it is in fact him ;D) as promoter of that track - I still wouldnt know him face to face though! So I'll use them in my example..... I've been to a couple of meetings at Cromwell, and to be honest I enjoyed the first meeting greatly - yet found the next one lacked something, and fell short of the expectation planted in my mind from the previous visit! - Clubs/organisers etc probably need to realise that they will NEVER please everyone on every night, yet if they can run a water-tight show THEY should come away happy - look at the critisism and take it on board - dont take it as a personal attack, In most cases the spectator/poster is probably just hot - under the collar over an issue, and in retrospect may come away thinking what a c#%k I am for saying/posting that. Volunteers, like the drivers Make the show - if they werent there meetings just simply wouldnt happen - unfortunately they will probably never get the true praise that they deserve! Cromwell certainly is a track on the move - and the team down there are making great strides for speedway in the South Island - dont let the critisism stop your forward motion - use it and move forward...... Sdemonnz (some of you know me some of you dont)

Agree with your post sdemon. One of the frustrations I had was to do with the starting of the Gold group in heat one. Nothing to do with Phil and his team. When the flag dropped three cars at the back ( one was Keegan, cant remember the other two ) were not within 50m of the pack although they were moving fast to catch up. Yet the flag drops ! In the productions they seemed to have an extra lap for formation than the Supers in the first heat. I am really looking forward to the finals tonite and am sure the racing will be interesting and the track will be ready. Steve Williams announced a few months back that the track that he drove on when he was down was the best prepared surface in the country. Thats good enough for me !
