Because Fraser and Bengsten are automatic qualifiers. To clarify that, Peter is the defending 240s champ and Kyle won the next 26 last season which gave him auto entry to this years final.

I'm pretty sure there are 7 SI cars, so if 2 groups have 2 each, the other has to have 3..........

Even less now I think, just 5 left from the total of 9 that entered - but what a five!
1nz, 2nz, 3nz, 16c ad 492 c still in, 7c and 48n withhdrew earlier, now 18n and 89c out as well.
16a and 96h withdrew earlier too, joined now by 5v, 8r, 12r, 77p, 282s and 417a.
Late entries received since the original list was originally posted however, keep the entry at about the same size. They include 45v, 53a, 64p, 68r, 73a and 77r. I'm particularly looking forward to watching Kev Smith in the 64p, stunning looking machine with the unusual UK style wing.
UPDATE; Just noticed 73H Karl Ross and 78R Gary Hunter as late entries too

Yes we did loose a couple over night. They were holding off until the last minuted waiting to see if they could get engines etc fixed after the NZ's.
Decided two heats of 24/25 would be far more entertaining than three groups of 16 that would probably drop to 14 after the first race. Also the race programme for the Friday night is very full, with the overseas drivers along with the NZ qualifiers practising, BOP Streetstocks and BOP Stockcars and that is a bit of a mystery pack as to how many of them will turn up, add to that the MORE FM Minisprint Grand Prix and I think you will easily get value for money for your $15 for an adult.
Qualifiers will be 9 from each group, 1 from the Repercharge and the 2 pre qualifiers plus 5 overseas.
