A 350 that revs at 5 and a half k? Looks like the only similarity is the horsepower, where 400 would be around mid-low side among the current bunch of superstocks.

I assume there is the opportunity to make some limited changes to the engine to make it competitive as the trial unfolds. Would certainly make it cost-competitive though.

I wonder what the weight of the 350 is compared to the alloy motors out there?
I look foward to hearing more about this motor, and the car it will be going in - will be very interesting to see how it goes!
Any idea on the cost of one of these beasts? Hopefully reasonable - and the gearing will be interesting, as well as the sounds bop bop bop at those revs haha

I just think it's really bloody impressive that someone has taken the initiative to do this - getting the engine here, going through all the necessary work to get it put together as a trial in the class, etc. Anything that is going to give the class more options, make it more affordable for new entrants into the class and easier from an engineering and parts perspective has to be a good thing.

From what i have heard it cost around $6-$8K and they have to leave it standard but it is to try and drop the cost and make it easier for people out there to go superstock. This is just what i was told in palmy last weekend. Bloody good idea i think.

5 grand USA 10 grand NZ was going into my car for this season but is now going into 77P since he blew his engine and will bolt straight in huge price difference and I cant see any problem with it at this stage it will only benefit the class

Why bother when you can get a CSL or Hartley engine for $30k thats already proven.
If people can't afford that, maybe they should try or stay in stockcars and leave the superstocks alone.

Cause some of us dont have 30K but can get 10K and still be up there

Are you joking..... do you really think a $10k engine is going to be on the pace of the big boys - Dont Think So!
Save your time and spend it on your stockcar and when you can afford to race superstocks - then buy one and go racing...

if successful it can only be good for the grade, the cheaper the engines the more drivers there will be and the more spectators at the tracks watching full fields.
