No idea sorry, at a guess I'd say the week before to give guys a chance to put their hand up etc.
It will be interesting though. It seems there will be a spot or two open with Miers and Bengston unavailable. Hemi and Rees are keen, not sure about Penn with his new car, he may be available though?
Craig Humphries was looking good but has engine trouble. Norris has said in the paper that he's keen. Hyslop or Whittaker have experience and are definitely capable.
It would be great to see Kev Smith as a surprise selection if he wanted, has looked really impressive this season and has an aggresive style.

Thanks again for the update Basil when listening to Scotts interview a couple of weeks back he did mention they were going to blood some new driver/s for the Challenge Cup I agree about Kev Smith mate he brought that style to the 240's last year as well may be Marcia can confirm on here for us Cheers

Thanks for the positive comments about Kev - he has 'tinkered' with the engine a bit and done a few other alterations to the car this Winter and he seems happy with it.
He has once again (he was asked to join the Mustangs in Feb)been asked if he would take part in the teams racing (Gary Parkes asked him on Saturday) however he has turned that invitation down - says he much prefers watching from the spectator side of the fence - maybe if he had been given the chance a few years ago before he got so OLD! ;D
Sorry to disappoint - but he will be there on Saturday for the Manawatu champs - we will also be doing the NZ's, the 240's, Global challenge and NI champs - as well as the regular local meetings, and the placemakers rounds.

Ok you can stop talking the meeting up because I am no longer able to make the trek...............so I don't care . No actually I am gutted as I think this would be the most keenly contested champs outside the majors and slightly ahead of the BOP champs at Paradise during WOS. It wouldn't surprise me to see the names Smith and Norris appear ahead of the likely Penn, Rees, Hemi. Another dark horse if entered would be Scott Joblin. Would love to be there and Markus, I would have been more than happy to let you ride shotgun. Good luck to all competitors, who ever wins will have earnt it against some top talent.

Ahhh tankfan, love the enthusiasm but cant see the tank coming through, would be great to see though. At least bundy will put on a good show if not in the points.Heard he not gunna be here for Nelson teams race as he has a wedding to be at in Whangamata the same nite(stink for Panthers).Plenty of potential winners for the champs,Hemi,Norris,Smith,Joblin,Rees.....And the list goes on,its a Midland New Zealand Champs, hope the weather holds out and if not hope they cancel it in time for people to get to Roto in time.

I like this post that GH posted on facebook Peter Rees does not miss teams racing without a reason and I think he will show everyone who goes along the reason why he isn't in Huntly. O I would be nervous if I had a P on my car and didn't live in the area Cheers
