It's like asking Tom Jones to pay to get into one of his own concerts. ;D ;D Just doesn't seem right . Sometimes I feel that if the competitors are relying on the gate refund and prizemoney to race then maybe they should look at downgrading the class they compete in. I confess ... tracks don't impress this fella when, having drivin for hours to get there to support them, they charge me for the privilage. It's not about the money, it's about an attitude, a perception of being valued. To those that compere us to other motorsports, we are not like others in one significant area - we are supposed to have 'paying public' as spectators!

Id think most speedways are run and prepared by volenteers and other peoplewho are prepared to give up their time and knowledge for free,so paying a little bit of $$ for this prevlige is priceless if you dont like it go to another sport where you will pay a lot more $$

Go to one of the NZV8 meetings and see how much you get charged to get in as a spectator. Some figures for you, racing budget (not including pre season rebuilds or major damage) $370,000. Franchise costs (you have to pay this before you can race, sort of like club membership fees) $100,000. Cost to build a new car $500,000 - $750,000. Yet these guys still have to pay to get through the gate, and they have 12 crew! Most tracks I have been to have either 2 free through the gate or have a gate refund or appearance fee to cover some of the cost. If the tracks rely on the drivers to cover the cost of the meeting fair enough, but to me that is just an excuse for poor promotion.

A track that runs production saloons on a major night should be thankful anyone heads through the gate in the first place.
Ask BRC if you can borrow his violin.[/quote]
Any track that has u as a spectataor or what ever u are should be thankful they get people though the gate with that kind of attitude, how about next time your at a track and im racing come down and explain to me and all the other production saloon drivers why the track we are racing at is thankful for all the people wacthing the racing that nite. Murray Guy you hit the nail on the head about the attitude of tracks making you pay and the perception that tracks have about those drivers.

How many clubs are you a member of? How many times in a weekend do you sometimes race, often just to add value to a distant club struggling for numbers? How many times have you driven 5-7 hours to race, slept in your car to save money to pay for av gas?

Hell I don't know what the go is here , just about all the tracks I've been to let me n one pitcrew in free (they must just love me I guess) . Maybe most of you suffer from communication skills, just let the rep know your coming to race. And pesto ,9 out of 10 times you and one pitcrew are free The 1 out of ten, best get out of the way cause I ain't slowing down ;D

Production saloons are a sunday afternoon class nothing more nothing less....if tracks insist on running them as part of the saturday night race schedule, they should be restricted to club nights and never go anywhere close to being scheduled on premium nights. As for the invite to offer a face to face explanation.....pointless.

"Paying to put on a show"
I dont mind either way, but i have seen many cars front up and not even hit the dirt (including myself) or do a lap and pull off for the night. I would rather see their gate money put into the prize money pool than have them get in for free.

This makes me laugh. BigRed, do you understand that the only reason you need to pay to get in this year is so that you can actually race! Unfortunately the club has had to implement drivers paying so the club can keep running. This started last season so has not been the case forever. It is not a money making scheme! It is just so we can keep racing. You would have seen the news letter that ran through the running costs so im not sure why you complain. Yes we put on the show etc and it does suck paying to get in, however it is better than staying at home with no where to race.
As others have said on here, Ruapuna took the youth ministocks in when no one else would and talking to most of the youngsters they are loving it there. You sound like a spoilt little kid with some of your comments. EG Ruapuna only has the youth ministocks to get money from drivers and parents. What an absolute joke. Ruapuna has the ministocks with the hope that they will move to other classes. After all Sprintcars and Midgets are 2 of the most recognisable classes in the world and thats where this young tallent needs to be looking if thats the career path they wish to take.

I dont know how much drivers get involved with there clubs, but from what i believe, the more club members/ drivers get involved in there home track, the lower the costs are for the club. From what i know, some clubs reimburse their volunteers for gas etc. The less of that that has to happen the better. thats just my opinion
