How many tracks in NZ charge drivers to get into there own track to race? As Ruapuna Speedway will charge $30 ($15 each) for a driver with 1 pitcrew , where as a family pass is $25 for 2 adults & 2 children , but would NOT charge the family rate as there were no kids . Should drivers pay to get in when they are the entertainment?

no a driver should not pay if racing and the crew should be at a cheaper rate as they work hard and don't see much of any racing at all if things are bad

10 15 0r 20 dollers, still cheap entry on top of mayby $150 club fees per season -ask the circuit racing teams how much they pay in entry fees per meeting - or the rally teams , as the song goes we dont know how lucky we are!! ..plus prize money if things go good and travel money ;D ask the panthers what there share is of the prize money for winning each year!! its huge ask how much the nzv8s race for!! bugger all!!

well i dont think we should have to pay to get in.. as no one would go to watch only the water truck race around!! and as for the prize money well thats hardly good enough to pay for tea after the race meeting. well thats for sidecars anyway.. i think palmerston is the best place to contract to.. no pay to get in, cheap club fees, and a awesome track to race on. even when bumpy..

The kids can't even get to go around the track with the chequed flag , with would be a real buzz for the kids .

It's easy to make comparisons which aren't relevant to speedway. Speedway has traditionally been 'Kiwi grass roots motorsport' that had a strong family affordable entertainment focus. Over time speedway has been highjacked by those with big wallets and egos, whose focus doesn't extend beyond their wooden noses. "Ask the circuit racing teams how much they pay in entry fees per meeting". Been there, done that and chose speedway. Spend just as much money but race a lot more often at many more tracks! The MNZ $170 entry included crew, car and pit passes. Income comes from the competitors, speedway has spectators (most speedways). Clubs / tracks such as Rotorua (not confined to) have demonstrated what can be achieved, are growing in support (competitors and spectators) largely by retaining traditional speedway family values.

What!!! prize money for kids? you are kidding.....seems like the original Youth Mini Stock people at Ruapuna arrived and are more than happy to have somewhere to race, and under the agreed terms..nothing like a Johnny Come Lately to snivel...

It is an SNZ rule.

We must have gone the wrong day then. Was invited down , drove for around 6 hours to get there and charged $30 at the gate with car and trailer on behind?
