It would have to be "Jafa" the duck seeing it was an Auckland car that mowed him/her down - It was totally disgusting, the ducks were there for a good two hours prior to racing and the "officials" had more than enough time to get them clear. Not great for being promoted as a family event. There were plenty of upset people in the area where we were sitting. All I can say is karma's a b***h and it would be great if there was someone from the SPCA at the track to witness it.....

you know the worst piece about this posting is that we have 3 pages about a goose/duck and not one question asked about the 5 drivers who required medical attention last night who put on a show for the public, i cant work out what makes some people tick and we are in a very sorry society that values 3 page posting about a goose/duck over people.

mintie im sure people are concern bout the drivers that have been hurt but guess people also dont like seeing harmless birds get killed when it was avoidable

The drivers made a choice to be there, the goose didn't. And the lack of threads about the drivers makes one assume they're ok, generally if someone has been hurt bad then there is a thread started by someone close to them where everyone can send love and thoughts.

Excuse me Mr Mintie, but you’re a mean human being sir. I am the voice of the dead bird run over by the stockcar. And now I’m back from the dead to haunt your conscience (if you have one) for the rest of your life! For your information I am not a dead duck or a dead goose. I was just a little baby goose you humans call a gosling because I can’t fly or look after myself yet. My mum is called a goose and my dad a gander. We are bigger and have longer necks than our distant relations ducks. We graze on land mostly whereas ducks almost always feed in the water. Just before I was squashed I was very scared and frightened by all the noise. How come none of you humans who think you are so much smarter than us made the effort to move my mum and me before the racing started? We weren’t there to hurt anyone. We were just hungry. And I know my mum would have been deeply upset when you suggested to Ramjam she should be plucked and put in the pot for dinner. Have you no heart? I wish I couldn have been there then to give her a hug because she was so stressed - but I couldn't because I was dead! The last thing I remember before I was mowed down was looking at the man wearing the red cap thinking please please help me. But he just turned and walked away without a care in the world. How cruel and cold. And if you were really concerned about the 5 drivers being hurt why didn't you say something over the pa system? Frankly sometimes humans act more like a goose than my mum.

How cruel and cold. Frankly I think he like you are more like a goose than my mum. As eloquent as this is.... I doubt very much the goose understood english and was upset by the comments about getting put in the pot. That WAS funny. And while putting a guilt trip on the officials around the gosling might make you feel better, it's inaccurate... wild animals also don't look to humans to be "helped", they are afraid of humans and the bird would have been looking to the humans to check where they were, so it could go in the opposite direction. Without the guilt trips and insults, the simple fact is the duck/goose/gander/gosling should have been removed from the track before racing started. End of story. It's done now, get over it.

If i was one of the drivers id be less worried about the duck being a hazard and more worried about those other 5 1500kg steel chassis's about to try and put me into the wall or on my lid i think a duck would have been the least of there worries.
1500kg stockcar vs 2kg duck you do the maths lol
oh and the duck did choose to be there or it would not have been there at all, maybe if the duck followed the rules and wore a high vis vest he would still be alive.
