Looked like a nice day there going by the photos...
Does anyone have an idea how big the crowd was...again, looking at the photos, the crowd looked not really a crowd, and more of a gathering ........ Pity as this is a "major event" on the Speedway calendar

Hi Wise Owl. The photo posted by Eddie was taken early in the evening. The crowd had grown considerably by the time racing started. There were people still arriving at 7:30. I will not try and guess numbers. Like most of these two night events (Palmy teams excluded) the biggest crowd always turns up for finals night. Here's hoping that happens tonight as we should be in for a great nights racing with a bigger field of Super Saloons for the finals. I also believe good numbers of Stockcars are expected for the support class races.

I enjoyed last night. My picks for to night would be, not in any order. 1nz 21H 96A 7M with 99A making it from Repocharge as a wild card. Only draw back from last night programs sold out by 6.30 with no more for the finals. Hmmm they are taking orders.

I hope 99A can get thru the repercharge and into the final. He was dropped two spots'4' points in race 2 of red group by SNZ for an allegation of using the pole line to his advantage?.Video shows they were robbed but hopefully day two will bring amends. Unlucky ones would have to be Ray Stewart, rumour has it he thought amber lights had come on ,sun shinning on lights,he slowed and rear ended rest history, but must say only rumour of how happened. Also Ritchie Taylor blown motor race one. Those that thought guy fawkes was good, the real fireworks will be tonight.Get track side for action galore.

Apart from the rear ending bit, that's exactly what happened. Ray had a big lead when sun strike, also a problem at Cromwell last year (which caused them to suspend racing for 10-15 mins on the second night last year while it set, a very good idea), reared its ugly head. He thought he saw an orange light coming into trun 4, backed out of the gas, tried to make up all of the ground going into turn 1 when he realised it was still green, and slammed it into the wall. Steve Williams confirmed you couldn't see a thing from in the car, but the problem as solved by the time the wreckage was cleared away.

the repecharge should be interesting with 46e on grid 1 and 99a on 2. Some sensible heads should see these 2 go through. Only 2 can go through but based on the points 76m goes to grid 3, 51a & 5b are tied on points for grids 4 & 5. Geoff Fletcher 48h goes to grid 6, 17a Slater to 7. then its 34t, 98a with 36a & 55a tied for the last 2 grids......... Roll on tonight... 76m told me last night he would not be there tonight, and would be suprised to se 34t and 55a there also

All TBC obviously. The grid is as above, 51a is on 4, 5b off grid 5, 58c has been given slot 10 ahead of 55a and 36a. 46e, 99a 76m, 51a 5b, 48h 17a, 34t 98a, 58c 55a, 36a One would think 46e and 99a, and both will make great additions to the 18 already through. Man, a big night ahead with 5 races in store for the repechage placegetters.

was an awesome nights racing -- 4 hrs for $15.00 -- value for money any day in my book -- and YES " SONIC33" -- there was plenty of action and excitement for us spectators -- a shame you wont be there tonight to see for yourself -- doesnt matter how many cars are racing, as long as they put on a good show -- and these drivers didnt hold back -- there was lots of passing and very close racing -- the crowd were right there till the end .
bring on tonight , I say

Well I must admit I'm quietly hoping that Lance can finally pull off the big one . So close so many times over so many years . Got the car , got the ability , just the unknown to be the decider.

We spoke about Lance and Bolty on the PA last night, both so close so many times but never quite making it. Lance is particular was very impressive last night, but has yet to come up against Williams, Emerson and/or McIntyre. Looked well capable of taking it to them though. Considering Bolt had only done 3 races in the ex Josh Bolton 2nz car before hitting Huntly he went very well also, and was making changes to the car after every race as he admitted Josh drives a very different racecar to him.

Is anyone able to put up grid draws for the finals, and what time are they going to be drawn? I think the Huntly Team did a great job of getting the qualifying sorted and it was great to watch with some very impressive moves from Lance, Emo, Steve, Dennis, Burs, Craig and Ron Taylor. Paddy and Shane were unlucky but have a good shot with the Repecharge. The grids for that are provisional until we see which cars turn up. 58? 34? 76? Grids for the finals will be done at drivers briefing with 19th and 20th drawn marble going to 1st and 2nd in the Repercharge. 3 races with 20 cars and setup for the final 20 lapper with highest points to the front. 1st, 2nd and 3rd across the line being the new 1NZ,2NZ,3NZ. So last night was the warm-up and tonight we will have 20 drivers, over 12,000hp on a small circut trying to write their names in the history books!!!!! I'm heading to the track now I can't wait

I will not try and guess numbers. Also the shots that suggest a small crowd are taken at turn 1- the majority of the spectators sit along the back straight and turn 3.

I can't wait for tonight, A couple of the groups last night had a bit of action and with the qualifying now over and the field to double in numbers to 20 cars. I do think action a plenty awaits.
I have been to a few NZ titles now with the Supers and are yet to see a meeting finish before 11.30pm.
Huntly proved last night that they can do it with the amount of racing last night but with Stockcar & Midgets there tonight I am predicting a late one again.
