Usually a club has a 4-6 race programme before a meeting can be called. For a meet to be called, prior to a race being held, and a free meet the following day announced seems strange to me.
As I said in another thread, what would happen if today did not run? Lots of bucks for vegas and still a meeting to run at sum stage. Would they charge again. I think so.
Usually Rotorua are top notch. For this meet I think they Lacked.
Sonja, what would have happened if today wasn't possible to run. What would rotoruas' stance be?
Why does a track make more money if there's a rain out? I thought they would be out of pocket no hotdog and drink sales etc and there staff will still get paid some wages as they would obvously be there ready to go well before the start time of the meeting preparing things etc.
And as for the earlier post about still taking gates sales until it was called off. Of course they would! anyone going in can look at the sky or weather forecast and make there own mind up if it's worth the risk of getting wet or not. People aren't thick they know full well if they can make it there the next day or not if it does get called off before they hand over there hard earned cash.
I think tracks get a hard time weather is not in there control!
Im assuming tracks dont take a % of food sales just sign a contract with the said food suppliers and get a figure for how many meetings they are there
