Just for the record Ian was not knocked out...but his injuries were a bit more than bruising...he was been asked by SNZ to produce a medical clearance before he can race again (and rightfully so) which Ian will be abiding by.. SNZ seem to be very proactive in this area...A new car has just about been completed and will be racing as soon as his health issues cleared. Ian would also like to thank St.Johns, the safety crew..Willie & Glenys..Puk & Marie (palmy Speedway) & Brent & Denise Harris, Phil & Stephanie from Tracksport engines for their assistance after the accident and getting him home...also all the well wishers on Macgors and all his fellow speedway competitors who have rung to see how he is...it is great to see the comradeship amongst the competitors...As far as Ian is concerned this was a racing incident..these type of accidents can and do happen.. we must be mindful that we make ourselves as safe as possible..the safety requirements in the rule book are at a minimum and we should strive to exceed them

Thanks for the update sidnee. I didn't think he was knocked out at the time of the accident - in the video I posted you can clearly see him moving in the cockpit straight after the accident before anyone gets to him.
It's also good to hear safety being taken seriously by the drivers and their supporters.
I hope he heals quickly and gets back into the saddle of his 100's of horses, doing hat obviously gives him and all those who watch, enjoyment.

Like Dave says, thanks for the update sidnee, it is always good to hear 'facts' from those that are close. It never is 'just some bruising' is it. but good to hear all is well Daves video clip clearly shows Mr Easton doing stuff, getting ready to get out in case of fire I imagine, the moment the car came to rest. So for all those people on turn 3 and those that have seen daves clip, a knock out wasn't thought of. A question though. Is Ian's saftey set up going to change as a result of this crash? Was there something or any area for improvement.... Just curious because the safety this and the safety that got bandied around macgors quite a bit last year and just wondered if there is some analysis or thought put in or even a sharing of information amongst drivers within your club, or wider, or SNZ.? Did the SNZ want to know what you safety set up/gear was? Personally, deep down, I hate the safety thing... I'm a bricklayer (that explains everything now ;D) and it took osh ages to get me out of my Jandals and tanning oils and into safety boots and sunblock so I have no hidden agenda, no axe to grind, nothing to sell nothing to push... just thinking out loud is all.
