For whatever reason the first picked Rotorua Rebel drivers can't make it to Auckland why don't the guys who haven't managed to get into the team & have been waiting on the fringes of selection get together & have a crack. I think they would get great support for making the effort to represent their track from any supporter of teams racing in general.

Re your comment Joe.... You obviously have no concept of what is involved in Teams Racing...... A - You don't just throw a team together and hope for the best. B - The commitment by drivers/teams/sponsors is HUGE, money wise, the cost to Teams Race, travel accommodation for the crew, the time that the driver, crew have to arrange away from their normal employment, the chance a driver being hurt badly and it affect their employment/family.... many things form the decision. C - Spares, drivers who are totally commited to teams racing plan to Teams race as part of their pre-season racing, a full list of spares as much as money will allow, there is huge damage when you commit to teams racing and a big range of spares are required. As a Driver in a Team, you are totally commited to your team (Club) to represent them to the best of your ability, all drivers in the team have to be totally committed to put their cars/bodies on the line 110%, there is much planning required to put up a successful campaign, it does cost thousands of dollars. The Rebels suffered big damage from Palmerston, which relates to a lot of dollars to repair engines etc, it will be a huge dissapointment for fans like ourselves that The Rebels will not be making an appearance at Auckland - I cannot remember a year when they were not present, however unless they are able to have a fully prepared team (the whole package) you don't teams race to make up the numbers.. the drivers will be feeling gutted that they cannot attend and represent their Club, I feel for them. I thank all the Teams, Drivers & Crew that have the BALLS to campaign to Teams Race, we know the commitment required.....it can be the most amazing feeling representing your Club and knowing that the other drivers in your Team are out there putting their cars and bodies on the line with you, good luck to all those drivers/teams in Auckland, we hope that there are no serious injuries. By the way....have no fear THE REBELS will be back on the track as soon as they can...they do not want to be on the sideline.

Well said, no point chucking a team together at the last minute to make up numbers.

To use Palmy "ring ins" in Auckland, travel, accomodation and other expenses have to be arranged and agreed to.

Wow !! interesting comments to what I thought was a prity casual post. Firstly, Steiny the meet won't be the same without you mate & I know you guys would've exhausted all avenues to get a team there. What I should of said was that seasoned Teams racers from the other non competing teams, ie Scrappers, Hawkeyes, Wanganui, Gleneagles could possibly have been approached to form a Team whether it be Rebels or a Select team which may have already been done who knows. I live in the Far North & look forward to this event each year & obviously would like to see as many teams present as possible but not at the risk of Safety or Injury to the drivers as pointed out by a couple of other posters. Costs & sponsorship, well when I Team raced my Stockcar (std) we never had sponsors & met our own costs because we wanted to be there right or wrong. This could make me a little nieve I guess & I didn't wish to offend anyone. If I have then I apologise. See you all there for what will be a great couple of nights racing.

When will the draw be done Draw will be released Tuesday morning on LiveSPORT radio. With the Mustangs, Tigers and Busters all being non-seeded teams this year, there should be some great Night 1 match ups.

Seems a bit surprising to me not to see the Hawkeyes competing. Given how well the new team performed at Palmerston North I thought they would have been very keen to get four wins again in Auckland.

The hawkeyes were ready to rock but apparently they have no big named drivers so promotion were only going to pay them peanuts to show up. alot less money than they got last year so it just wasnt worth it. Apparently

With the draw now done with the 7 teams, looks like the question of there being an 8th team is done and dusted.
So...... Teams confirmed, draw done, good weather booked in......... Who is coming to WP Friday? ;D
