Regan, my mother mistook you for Marty Cooke at the Huntly Teams event Need any further reason to use the same number? Poor old Marty? ??

I think this change is a good move. The confusing aspect of similar/sequential numbers is not just about recognizing driver/car combination but having a better chance of knowing who is actually winning. All part of the enjoyment factor for me.

Say Busters 19 38 71 73 98 and Rotorua 33 45 65 118 434
Busters could be 319 338 371 373 398 Rebels could be 433 445 465 4118 4434 So Auckland could be 111 163 173 etc Huntly 28 224 296 etc
Regan 52 could be 552
So Question time who races as 319m, 445r, 111a? and who races as 11m 98r 33b?

Well done Bruce - about time! Get rid of the confusing number system and back to registered numbers! Easy for everyone involved, plain and simple

I think the worst case was when one team (can't remember who) ran variations on the same three digits - 358, 835, 583, 853 etc, compounded by the fact that the font and colours they chose made it even harder to identify anyone. I applaud Bruce for bringing in this change, and at the end of the day, it's his show so he can do what he likes.

So if I go racing and get hurt and then our 6th driver hopes in my car does that mean we have to take a spare set of numbers for him cause then everyone will think its me and he will give me a bad name if he does something wrong. For the last 15 years of so we have had teams with team numbers and it looks more professional than everyone running there own. The commentator gets peoples names mixed up on a normal night in palmy so imagine if there is a 52B and a 52P on the track at the same time, Joblin will take all my credit for a big hit lol. LEAVE IT AS IT IS!! You have nothing to worry about with the reserve driver giving you a bad name Regan,,,,,,,,,,,lol. Are you implying the Joblins don't hit? ? Haha nah they hit or might make me look good if he does a big hit and the announcer calls my name and im a reserve car lol Hey percy, I must be rubbing off on Marty if he is hitting like me now lol

How will the numbers go when you have drivers making up the numbers in other tracks teams eg. 591p in wildcats, 53p & 112p in glen eagles in previous years, will they be retaining their track code or having to change it which defeats purpose of running the driver's normal number

The Numbers aren't the issue it's the Teams COLOURS!
Take for example last night at Palmy where the Mustangs took on the Scrappers and BOTH teams were predominantly White. I think everyone who was there would have struggled to identify who was who let alone which driver was which number.
As Regan used a rugby innuendo regarding numbers, how bout applying that too how many rugby teams play against each other in the same colour? (It may happen at club level but it never happens at provincial or international level and I'd say most of us would put Teams in the provincial or international category)
I think most local fans are only going to be able to recognise their local team when it comes to numbers whether it be their registerd or current team number and then be checking there programme or listening to the commentators if they really need to know whos in what car.
Start with getting the colour issue sorted then possibly worry about numbers.

well my 7yo boy sat in kyle frasers baypark busters car and then when he saw highlights of the next time the busters raced knew that it wasnt same car with that number so how hard can it be also did it with ian clayworths car in tigers colours and then recognised it racing in its normal livery so i personally cant see why its an issue with team numbers That's why it's virtually a pointless argument on macgor's - most WON'T be able to get the point because they already know their cars etc. Look past what we currently have, and towards what we could have. Barry B So your 7 year old would recognise the car even with a completely different coloured body on it?
