I agree with TrevG , it's time to stop bleating on about the appearance of the current crop of Super Saloons . They are what they are and the groaning is getting tiresome. If you don't like them don't watch them. Must admit I haven't gone out of my way to watch them for a couple of years now but I'm sure there are plenty that appreciate the show they put on.
Any further posts about their appearance will be removed , the posts in this thread are hardly fair on a long time well respected driver who is only putting himself into a similar package as those that are doing the winning. Not a huuuuuuuuuge fan of some of the new shaped cars, but don't actually mind them either. The car numbers, general overall car presentation, and the racing, in this class is better than it's been in years IMHO, and THAT is more important to this fan. Plus they look different to a Saloon, and I don't mind that either. Let's do it on the terracotta, Barry B

Why do the new cars have to look like anything? why cant they just be called supersaloons, the newer feild of cars out there now are probly the tidiest and most best presented the class has ever been, keep it up.

It definitely doesnt resemble a shoe box beachboy....Thats one hot looking oh no straight panels anywhere... even the arse end is curved. Wonder if the engineer, Body builder, was thinking and looking out on the street during smoko break ..

Super Saloons now are awesome. They look like real race cars. Hypermac / style cars have bought the super saloon class back along with the BK series. I and others now are no longer having to give in to Sprint car fans when it comes to having a debate which is the best class to watch. I fully support the likes of lance and others. I also support Blondie if he can make the ugly duckling fly. I think if he can make it fly the cost of making it look good wont cost much as he will easily get a good sponsor who will need the car to be presentable. If it does not go fast he will give up on his atempt to go fast. ( i do wish him the best although he should leve his price issues in his head as the sport needs to look good not like jalopie racing.

That said, Lance's new car looks fantastic. the new color scheme is awesome and will certainly make it stand out. Lets hope the legendary hypermac performance combines with his huge experience to make a winning package!

But you have to admit 891c lovelady "looks" the better car?

well done to the team at Jennings racing. great to see lance out there still doing it.especilly for a guy that some 15 years ago kept saying he was going to retire. The whole family are a great family who are passionate about speedway, and I was fortunate to spend 15 plus years crewing for lance and travelling the country meeting some great people, and this in turn has given me my love for the sport. loving new look, think people need to get over it about shape of cars, lance would be one of the few out there still doing it in saloons that was there when they were still roadcars. Im sure Theycallmewade could possible find a pic to scan of lances first car just to show where it all started. at the end of they day people its progression and that is they way the class is heading. just enjoy the good hard fast close racing and respect the time/money and effort these drivers and teams put into it for little or no return to entertain you the public that go watch. remember its a hobby for most as no one out there is getting paid to do it .

little or no return to entertain you the public that go watch. I doubt there is a single competitor in any speedway class that races for this reason!

I like the performance of the hypermacs but they have gone so far away from the actual look of the corvette, the only distinguishing feature that still remains is the rear pairs of twin round/oval lights. I guess super saloons will always look better as they are going forward (especially around the outside) … the other chassis builders seem to have been caught short and haven't got anything to offer as a real alternative to the success of the Hypermacs?? …just my thoughts of course:)
