During racing last night sitting inbetween turn three and four we were told that where we were sitting is also going to be reserved tonight. What the are the organisers doing apart from trying to make more money and make the meeting so expensive to attend with this reserve seating on the corners. We have nearly 20 people in our group and 6 of us have been coming over from australia for the last 6 years to atten this meeting. Looking at it if they do it about 90 percent of the track will be reserved. Where the ** do you expect the general admission to sit you wallys. Expect some trouble tonight if you carry on with this crap. There going to be some upset people who sat in these areas last night which are spose to be getting reserved tonight.

From what I understand they were opening up more reserved seating to cope with demand, and there weren't too many gaps. So it's the paying public driving this, not the promoter. We have paid $10 extra for a few years now and well worth it for the lack of staring at an empty track for a couple hours at the start And anyway, if your flying from Oz I wouldn't have thought $10 would make too much difference

Considering how many people go both nights, it seems a little strange to me that there'd be areas GA on night but reserved on night 2? Not suggesting you're wrong, but i can't imagine there are many that have purchased tickets for one night only?

At the end of the day, the public votes with its feet and wallets, as Mal notes above. Last night was the biggest first night crowd I've seen for a few years, so I'd say Bruce Robertson and his team are doing things pretty well. Personally, I'm more than happy to pay a little extra for a reserved seat. I was busy in the pits with promo stuff for the Warriors, and didn't get to my seat before thew Grand Parade, so it was great to be able to go straight to my reserved seat, sit down and enjoy the action.
The event has grown so much in recent years that it would not surprise me if it becomes an all-ticket affair, which sells out in advance. That suggest to me that the promoters know their product, know the audience, and produce great value for moeny. If anyone left last night dissatisfied with the show, I'd venture to suggest they're VERY hard to please!

But some of us want certain seats that are not reserved eg corner 3 temp stands so have to get GA admission to get those seats. The arena severely over selling as they greedy and don't care people walking around as no seats left. Make every seat booked or only small section of green and grandstand. They keep selling GA seats but extend thr reserved and it does not match up so overselling and becomes dangerous with overcrowding there will be trouble tonight with overselling you wait

Do you have physical evidence they're overselling? Or just gut feeling?

I am picking it is not oversold, but in the GA area people have more than one seat. They hold chilly bins, food containers, jackets etc. Bet that wouldn't be the case if they were paying $50 for each seat they occupied.
It is true re turns three and four now being reserved. I paid the extra and now have booked mine. There would be very few places left for walk up people.
Got there a five last night and was VERY lucky to get a spot standing at the back against the rail, and that was only because some people moved a bit closer as we had known them from previous years.

We were in reserved seating, back row at start of the start/finish straight. The stands behind us, whilst appearing full wouldn't even have been at 3/4 full with groups taking up far more than 1 seat each person.
It's prob similar to the complaints about welly where those in reserved seats were packed into one seat each (as u would expect) whilst GA tix could take up 10 seats between 5 PPL, particularly in the bleachers behind the green seats on the start finish straight.

There were people with 100s of people with no seats and were told its been oversold in GA as to many reserved sold. "Told" by whom? Read this thread here re sales for tonight. macgor.proboards.com/thread/32555/tickets-sales-tonight-reserved-gaI think perhaps the time has come when people need to look at this event as a $50 ticket with a $10 discount if you're prepared to take your chances on actually getting a seat with a GA ticket (GA does not guarantee a seat) as opposed to $40 a ticket and $10 extra to reserve a seat. I'm sure it won't be long before it's pre-sales for the whole stadium except the temporary seating that is brought in. Barry B

It may very well be standing room only. Don't shoot the messenger....... Barry B
