the extra fuel wouldn't make his (or any other) car any stronger, and every car would be heavier by the same amount, as they all use fuel out there don't they?

Solve the problem. Every car passes over scales(at big events) before going on track. Doesn't take that long to read scales.
I think what we all want to see is it sorted on the track not around a table. I know rules are rules but isn't it a spectator sport? What about the crowd that pay money to get. What about the massive amount of time and effort that all the teams put in from the mainlanders to the aucklanders gisborne and Stratford, don't they the drivers deserve better than racing their heart out then it being over turned but something else not being changed. If it wasn't for them well we wouldn't have the best sport in the country??

Sorted out on the track not around the table boner87 Every 2nd post of yours was grizzling about cars cutting the pole line ?

I wasn't grizzling. I was providing information for people who couldn't make it or get live stream. There was a group of us and I tried relaying what was happening. I didn't have to but thought some may appreciate what was happening.
When I say sort it out I mean the way Robertson and rees were pulled to the infeild within half a laps of when it happened. If something happens in the last corner well then yes I would expect something afterwards to resolve it

How could you justify punishing the entire team for one car being overweight? Because they are racing as a _team_ The actions of one member affect all Really..so what your effectively saying is that if any car or driver breaks any rule the whole teams disqualified?

That would have the potential to exclude all the teams over a weekend leaving no one to win the event. In Rugby only one player is sin binned for an offence It has to be the same in Speedway

There's always controversy. But to give credit where it's due..the Rees showed how much of an affect they can have on any team or meeting when they want to. In my opinion as a fan "ring ins" so to speak are now going to always happen as some tracks are struggling to field full or strong teams for these events. Look at Palmy Teams for example both the 2nd & 3rd placed finishers had ring ins and they did a great job. Us as paying spectators are seeing a better more even show so let's just enjoy..everyone will never agree with the outcome. Well done to all teams on the weekend it's great to see the meeting shift around the country..bring on Gisborne 2016

Totally agree with your post meeaneemic. Other players in the team can't control the actions of a team mate who throws a punch and gets sent off. I'm sure that the other Gs didn't know that Bruce's car was overweight. This had no effect on the outcome of the race. The Rascal (sorry can't remember who - confused by numbers) who went wide into turn two while leading the race would be furious. He left himself wide open to get hit and Bruce Harding duly obliged. I don't know but maybe he had a steering problem and had to go wide??? Gisborne were the best team all weekend with out without Peter Rees. I did think prior to the final that maybe Pete would sit out the final handing the responsibility to his boys and giving the other G boys a run. That didn't prove to be the case but ultimately did happen with his early exclusion.

It will be interesting now to see will the Rees stay contracted to Gisborne next season to defend the title on the hosting track. Will also be interesting to watch alot of teams racing on the banked track.

Bryce Harding here, son of Bruce.
It's a bit disappointing to see the same people making the same assumptions, and the same old profiles with only a small number of posts seemingly stirring the pot under a false aliases.
I'm not here to sway anyone's opinion, or say this is wrong or this is right. I'm just going to say what actually happened and you can all draw your own conclusions from the facts.
The car weighed in at 1482kg at the lake. With approximately half a tank (6-7litres) of fuel.
We raced Friday night and had an extreme amount of damage which included:
*Welding up a hole in the siderail
We welded the hole up after washing the car so also drilled holes in the underside of the siderail to insure there was no water build up.
Saturday night we raced with the exact same tyres, setup, steelwork (with the exception of one welding stick worth of work). Apon arriving at the track we found that we had a leak in the Radiator, the side tank had split, we fixed it up best we could. But it still lost 2-4litres of water over the course of a race. We filled the fuel tank right up for the Rotorua race not knowing if there would be many stoppages.
After the race the car got weighed at 1508kg. We backed the car off the scales, cleared as much mud off as we could reach and get in the time given and re-weighed the car. It was still 1508, and after about 20 seconds on the scales it all by itself jumped up to 1510kg. 30day stand down was handed down saying the car weighed 1510kg. After leaving the scales the scales still read 1.9kg with nothing on them at all.
Upon inspection we found we had 1/2-2/3 of fuel in the tank and the radiator needed approximately 2 litres of water. Again with the same tyres, same steel work everything from the lake on Friday morning.
And to add a bit of food for thought. If a car weighing more is the only factor which makes it harder to move, disregarding setup, tyres (tyre pressures) suspension etc then lets do some maths.
Then if a car was to weigh 1490kg + Small Driver (Dad - 63kg) = 1553kg Or say a car that weighs 1480kg + Normal driver (90kg) = 1570kg
Bryce Harding

Bryce, your Dad is a legend when it comes to teams racing. He had an awesome two nights and drove magnificently in his blocker role as always. He won the race for Gisborne with his hit on the leading Rascal when all seemed lost for the Gladiators. Over 100 teams races is no mean feat. Congrats!!

hey guys, just been reading through all this but no one has brought this up,, Friday night I didn't see much racing etc so cant really say much, regarding the crushers they went really well "SMASH THE P", Saturday night on the other hand I believe there's different rules for different fools, crushers vs welly for eg, dale Robertson getting pulled off for cutting the pole and attacking a c car, flips out at the official, push's him, throwing stuff at him then wow funny thing happens,,,,,,,,, he was aloud in the finals no penalty against them lol yet chch cut pole (fully mistake) and hole team gets taking out from the final but yet the "legend" peter rees cut pole in the final to get another car and all he got was taking off the track and team was ok, when the chch car did it, it didn't actually change the outcome of the race as I believe that 7c already court the welly car to take over the lead so it was a fully unfair call by the refs, but never mind always next year chch will be back to get higher then 3rd.
thanks all the fans, sponsors, crews, family's that supported us etc much great full.

Are you saying that both Dale Robertson and Peter Rees cut the pole line on purpose while the Chch driver cutting the pole line was a mistake? I struggle to believe that two drivers which are as respected as those two would cut the pole line on purpose. It is also a big call to say that the chch car cutting the pole line to take out the leader did not change the result, maybe that would be the case if it was only a blocker running is 7th position being taken out but this was the race leader with only a few laps left.

Just going to point out that Dale also never actually pushed the official or threw anything at him as you say, Yes he was frustrated at being pulled off but he only threw stuff(his neck brace) at his own car, never at anybody. Anything such as you have suggested at any official or ref is taken seriously and usually results in a decent sized ban from racing.

streetstocks4life, I think it's all been explained pretty well previously WHY the whole team had to be DQ'd in the C vs W race. Had the upstairs officials seen the C car cut the pole and take out the race leader at the time, yes, they would have red-lighted it and taken him off as well. Because the race went to its conclusion, and the offending car finished third, there was no way of redressing the situation without DQ'ing the team. With Dale and Pete, it was an immediate penalty on the team by taking out one of their 4 cars for the remainder of the race, allowing both teams to re-structure and fight it out on the track. Welly lost that chance when their leading car was illegally taken out only a lap or two from home.
Re Dale Robertson; I watched him approach the official and raise his hands skyward in frustration, but no push and no throwing things at him. I'm not sure what you were watching.
