Hi All,
Some of you may have noticed an additional meeting on the Palmerston North calendar scheduled for the 18th of April, a Legends Race. So what is this legends race?
We can now notify you that we have confirmed 20 superstock legends from the recent past to line up in one 15 lap race. The drivers confirmed are:
Dave Evans Gary Parkes Tony Whittaker Peter Brougham Tony Mac Brian Musgrove Kim Lace Kerry O'Connor Mike Johnson Bryce Penn Russell Joblin Barry Podjursky Greg Johnston Keith Simpson Paul Wade Jared Wade Frank Van Vroonhoven Rodney Wood Brendon Higgins Lyall Rumney
And potentially 2 - 3 more.
These legends will line up in modern day machinery and after some individual hot laps to set a lap time for grid positioning they will race in a 15 lap race.
While we accept there are some omissions from the list of drivers, a number were contacted and unfortunately unavailable for this date.
The following drivers have generously confirmed their cars are available to be driven by our legends:
Kerry Podjursky Rebecca Barr Graeme Barr Scott Miers Jack Miers Simon Joblin Scott Joblin Adam Joblin Joblin Motorsport 4th car Andy McCabe Craig Humphries Jake Baker Clive Elliot Bevan Clarke Peter Bengston Kerry Humphrey Shaun Pearson Kenley Brown Chev Taniwha
And more to be confirmed.
More details to come. Book this date in. Get there early to see the hot laps and grand parade.
For more info contact PN Speedway or myself (Jake Baker... Jacob@har.co.nz)
Thanks.

Awesome idea Jake. It will be fantastic to see so many true legends of the sport back racing in some of the country's best and fastest cars. Any hints yet as to who's driving what?

Would be a nice idea to have a minute silence or minute of noise to remember the legends that are no longer with us to attend this meeting.

Another couple would be Graeme Gaskin and Darren Gray also. Yes unfortunately both Darren and Graeme were unavailable, likewise Eddie Hawkins, Neville Stanaway, Stan Hickey and Craig Pierce. They have all indicated that they would be very keen to line up next year however. I can confirm this evening that former team green hard man Chris Allan has confirmed, likewise Jack Jack Easton. Shane Penn has also been confirmed to present trophies and sashes for place getters.

Tony Mac can drive Clive Elliots car. I think Clive Elliot should drive the Clive Elliot car, he belongs in the legend line up, as well as TMac of course, not in the same car though, that would be wrong. There are e few names missing as someone has pointed out, I will mention Brian Anderson for starters, but where do you start & finish. Hat goes off to Jake for doing the donkey work on this and making it happen. BL

Unfortunately we can't have everyone and hopefully those that have missed out this year are available next year if we are able to pull the resources to run this race again. My list had 73 names on it. Sorry we are trying our best. Thanks... .Jake

Maybe for the following year, you could have a complete new list of drivers and include say the top 3 from this years race.
