i see they have jacked the prices for palmy teams.........i suspect the stream prices will follow. i am not sure why the need for the increase, its not like they can guarantee the level of epicness each year might produce. making the event alcohol free would would help. i would pay extra not to be harassed by drunken morons! I'm told it's only the grandstand price that has increased and it's the first price increase in 4 years. yep I cam accept that

I don't think there is enough incentive to shell out for a season pass for one track. You only need a work function, family birthday, or weather to loose the benefit of early purchase.
It would massively be hard to police, but I would like to see card you could purchase to get into every meet for x amount of dollars that lets you travel between tracks. I spend mega bucks ( admittedly not as much of late ) each season but not at one track.
Something like a frequent user card that once you have done ten full price meets you can go through any gate for $15 bucks. As I stated, I can't even figure out how to work it, but it would help. There is a lot of effort to attract new spectators but not too much to keep existing. Tracks rely on the die hard, but don't do a lot to thank them. I would even go to the point that the die hards are taken for granted.
I used to go to as many meets as possible, but now as a keen fan I am picking and choosing what I go to. A flat rate would definitely help.

For as long as i can remember a mother and her handicapped son walked to wacky park and home again to the top end of rockfield rd in Onehunga and more likely still do for speedway .They scrape every week to find the dollars for there sole enjoyment .. Its these type of good hardy folk that keep rolling in the gate every week ,and more than likely dont have a plastic fantastic card to there name . These types of folk that a little easement in gate prices by way of a card would certainly bring a smile to there face ..

Pricing has been and always will be subject of much discussion, clubs/promoters do need to make a dollar to keep the wheels turning, sadily as costs increase then gate prices follow, low pricing on its own does not guarantee more bums on seats. i pick the meetings i wish to attend and will not pay for nights with little on offer, as a result have attended fewer meetings. I have always commented that their is usually little incentive for a non racer to take up a club membership, and i bet that if it was not part of the snz license deal, a few racers would opt out of club membership.

Strange - concern of the gate price is a low priority for my group.(Travel costs are far higher than gate charges) We are looking for a show that provides value for the money - some speedway events would be expensive if they were free - sometimes there is just no entertainment value in the show put on. Most of the tracks I visit have improved but to start late, be slow getting races out the gate and run a night that lacks tension and fails to build to some sort of climax (can I use that word) is a sure way to drive crowds away. Witness the PN Teams - people perceive it as value and are happy to pay. The counterpoint is a number of local meetings that are that dreary few would bother to attend even if they were free at the gate. In my recent experience promotions have done damage by promoting a meeting. A few new converts come to the speedway then for what ever reason the meeting is a fizzer. It is this behavior that is killing the crowds - it is not the gate prices. If we dont entertain they wont come back.

Yer I second that. Last year just about had a brawl wigh some dickhead and his mate who were drunk and still being served boose.no security to be seen.thought speedway was a family friendly sport!! apparently the promotion has no control over this, so we are told every year.

this thread is a bit like the Kiwi Bacon add each morning before the breakfast show. it starts out as a members thoughts on prices in the up coming season and ends up another thread about alcohol at the Palmy teams event. "it all ends up with Palmy teams"

This is a break down of the costs for our 2016 Palmy tickets, get the same seats ever year so I always phone. The cost for 6 tickets (3 x 2 nights) is $36.68 more than 2015 SSTC's. Bit by bit pricing is getting somewhat ridiculous but while they get a sellout each year I guess it will carry on, unless NZ adopts the tighter regulations that has become the norm for many overseas counties. I don't believe the promoters don't have any influence on the final pricing to spectators.
6x Tickets ($60 per ticket) = $360 Courier fee = $9 Phone fee ($1 per ticket) = $6 Credit card fee (2.5% of the total cost) = $9.28 Booking fee ($2 per ticket) = $12
Total cost = $396.68

Somehow I don't think any of the other ticketing agencies would charge any less, just making the comment that a certain amount of the cost has nothing to do with the promoter

I understand ticket pricing and "bit by bit" charging is a subject of Fair Go next week. Bruce R has a fair amount of influence, I'm sure if he was unhappy about the ticket pricing he'd do something about it. I doubt he would want to engage in this topic on the forum, I hope I'm wrong!!!
