Hey there speedway fans, I'm Bob Leslie and have just finished my 1st season as a driver after jumping in the deep end just a year ago. We steer the 10a saloon out of Waikaraka(12) and have travelled to Whangarei(1), Waiuku (1) and Kihikihi(8) with practices at Patetonga (2). It's been a huge learning curve and some weeks would have been going faster in reverse but managed to keep the wheels turning and have loved every minute!!! Met lots of great people including some of the best around. Am married to Bex with no kids (hense giving speedway a go!! ;D) Am a roofing contractor who operates Roof Rescue doing roof repairs around Auckland. Looking forward to another speedway season soon.

Hi ya'll, I've been meaning to do this for a while, so here goes..
My name is Pete, I'm 46 and live in Palmy. I first started going to speedway 30 odd years ago at Palmy, Dave Evans and Bill Dorn were my Saturday night hero's. Then I didn't go again for about 25 years, not until last year during the 2008/09 season - Rugby and boozing up in public bars had taken priority. Then fate intervened and I met James Berryman, James took me to the track, let me drive his son's ministock, introduced me to a lot of good speedway people and I was hooked. In my first season for 25 years I've been to every track in the North Island and to Woodford Glen to support Malcolm Ngatai. I crew for stockcar 97P Graham Ward and help out Grant Mytton superstock 28K and crew for the Kihikihi Kings team. I like all classes of speedway, my favorite track is Palmy. I like photography and art too. I drive a trusty Ford Falcon XR6. cheers

Hello friends,
Markus says to introduce myself and so far, doing what Markus tells me to has worked out pretty well. SO HERE GOES...
My name is Joe McConnell. I am 46yrs young and live in Seattle, WA USA. I have three passions in life... music, motorsports and building businesses. I also quite enjoy seeing people smile. My Facebook name "Joe Willy" was a nickname given to me by my first racing teammate (almost 30 years ago). I have a background in mechanical engineering, sales & marketing and the entertainment industry.
I have been involved in motorsports off and on for 34 years. I started racing karts at age twelve in 1976 and have driven almost every class of kart since. I bought my first dirt track car ('65 Chevelle - sportsman class) with money from my paper route at age 15. I was a top graduate of the Elf/Winfield School in France and was offered a sponsorship from Elf for F3. I was told I was good enough to get to F1 but that they could not build a car for a 6'3" driver (1984) so F3 was as far as they would take me. So I came home and raced FF, GT3, GT5, and several production sports car classes in the US. I have also worked as a flagman, safety marshal for the old CART Indy cars, speedway track announcer, pit reporter, track promoter, racing instructor, PR agent, sponsor rep, owned a sprint car racing school and most recently have dabbled in producing racing videos.
Dirt Dog TV was born of frustration. Although most of my track time is in road racing, I grew up in a small Wisconsin town five miles from a great dirt track. Every summer from age 11-17, I was at the speedway on Sat. night. My heart is still in the dirt and the lack of TV coverage for dirt track racing had been making me angry. Early in 2009 I had a frenzied moment of clarity (some would say delirium) and decided "Screw the networks, we don't need them!". Although I knew almost nothing about video, broadcasting or internet TV, I decided that I was going to solve the problem by building my own online TV network. Really folks, I'm no one special. I'm just too darn stubborn to let a little thing like ignorance get in my way. I bought some cheap equipment, spent the summer filming and the winter learning basic editing and I started researching the state of internet video technology.
While I've had fun, I have NO interest in being a pro videographer. The key in business is to find people far more talented than yourself and empower them.
The mission of Dirt Dog TV is: To create a platform that enables online and cellular delivery of live and "on demand" video content (dirt track/speedway racing) and harnesses the full potential of the internet to maximize viewer enjoyment and monetization opportunities for sponsors, content producers and rights holders.
So that's me in a nutshell (pertinent to racing and Dirt Dog TV anyway). My friend Duane informed me of this board and boy it's a good one. Thanks for your time and friendship.
Sincerely,
Joe "Joe Willy" McConnell Dirt Dog TV Seattle, WA USA

Hi, my name is Mick but everyone calls me Zep. I'm from Sheffield in Yorkshire. I've been a stockcar fan since 1969. I am the author of the newly named U96 website, previously Sheffstox. My hobbies outside stockcar racing include rugby union, taking photographs, most of which never see the light of day again, travelling in Europe and trying out my Dutch, German & French langauge skills on unsuspecting victims. I like rock music, especially AC-DC and Rose Tattoo and as my label says, Zep, after Led Zeppelin.

Hi current knick name "Andyoo," previously called the RAM Ryder by mike Parker promotions, raced for Mick Smith, at Trackstar #103 Red top back to MPP in F2 Blue 703,retired to be a scrutineer found that TOP LEVEL drivers were cheating with block sizes PLUS spending mega puonds on their cars/ engines. We came to Australia 32 year ago and found a lot of the same here. keep your cars easy to build and at a cost that people can afford, keep your your cars simple but safe and sturdy good to look at but most of all affordable. Remember your public want to see incidents not accidents, learn how to use your bumpers skillfully but carefully and ENJOY Andy Ryder

Hi. Names Ian and I've been a petrolhead all my life. Started in karts as a wee lad at the Redwood Valley Kart track in Nelson and biked to the Stockcars every Sunday. I was a "Spoilers" Team supporter and Chris Guard was my Hero! That Ford V8 Topolino.... With work and travel I didn't attend speedway again till the early 80's and that was at Western Springs where the Midgets were amazing. The skill of Ted Tracy, Barry Butterworth and Sleepy Tripp will stick in my mind forever. (MUST get that new book about Butterworth) Time passed and I wound up in New Plymouth and a mate got me interested in Speedway again. I raced TQ's and Midgets till our boys were old enough to race and I dropped speedway and we became a karting family. I am not much of a watcher, and I find unless I have a job to do I don't go to Stratty much, except maybe the big midget meetings. I don't make any apologies for saying other than Teams Racing, I don't watch stockcars, or any of the contact classes. Open Wheel is my thing! But I DO respect and admire anyone that gets out there inside the concrete and has a go at any class. I know how hard that concrete is, and I can only imagine what getting a full on hit from a superstock feels like! Cheers, and enjoy Speedway. Ian
