i know im going to get hated here. but is it time the two clubs merege? all the best speedway meetings run out of westren springs. i would take out the two practice sessions and push for 15 meetings at the venune. paying for its entire upkeep. as you have a far better fan base out west. thats where alot of speedway fans are. if the two groups cant work together. i say the springs is damed. under springs promtion i believe superstock team nats would be a huge success. we all know the numbers it pulls in palmy. and there is no reason it cant pull more people and the same amount of teams. i strongly believe wacky pack is in the wrong location. and a tracks location to its fan base is key anywhere. until you learn to work as one. and help each other. i dont think you deserve westren springs.

There's so much wrong with your post I don't know where to start. For starters; Time to merge? In my opion, most definitely not.....but that's only opinion. Let's get onto the facts. You can't take out the practice sessions, SNZ Rules. Fact. SPL re-building the Teams Nats to be a "huge success?" Can't see it. They'd concentrate on what they know, and it's not Superstock Teams Racing. Opinion. Yes, Palmy pulls the numbers, largely because it's central. Fact. "There is no reason it cant pull more people and the same amount of teams". The cost to get the same amount of teams there would be astronomical compared to the cost of getting the same 12 teams into the Manawatu. Fact. Christchurch has three tracks, fact. Invercargill has two, fact. So Wacky Park is in the wrong location? You want to move that too? So what would you build, and where? And how many tracks would Auckland have in total? Barry B

also on the Superstock Teams Nats isn't Wacky Park and Palmy run by the same Promotion?
Western Springs is private promotion not a club

You are dreaming mate there won't be no stock cars at western springs for sure ,The 2 different fan bases are like chalk and cheese aint going to happen as long as the springs is going .

Barry B all i know is when stockcar racing dissapeared from the springs. so did the crowd numbers. to me that says alot. but then again that was 60 years ago. here is what i do know. westren springs will stand a greater chance at staying if the clubs didnt run sperate. were untied under the one auckland sppedway. and still raced at all three tracks. your adding alot more voices and reasons to your cause. im still waiting for hawkes bay to come together under one council. but theres alot of hate here. and one looks down upon the other. while this place slowly craws forward.

I don`t for one minute believe we need one club running the two tracks here in Auckland. Things have gone OK here for the 35 years I have been attending both venues. The real issues with WS appeared to begin when the xxx xxx who purchased houses after the fact began making noises about the noises and things have been up and down ever since. WP needs a face lift...no arguments there. Speedway has continued at both tracks and my summer weekends have been spent enjoying whichever meeting I choose to attend. Happy days. I don`t see that changing anytime soon to be honest...prepared to be proven wrong that said.
In regards to the greater Christchurch scenario...are Ruapuna and WG run by the same club / promoter? Things seem to work down there.

Ruapuna and Woodford Glen are run by separate Clubs. They do appear to work well together. We also have Moore Park for bikes and side cars. Ellsemere, I believe is another club track, that runs a number of classes. This track has had a major upgrade and certainly is a track that will attract a lot of attention in the future.
Other tracks nearby include Oxford and Ashburton.
Christchurch / Canterbury is well served for Speedway.

Cheers Macgor...edit noted Thanks energypower for your post. I asked the question of Christchurch because the set up down there with the two tracks running the different classes mirrors Auckland. It it works then leave well enough alone. Anthony

Have you heard of Zero blast HB Hornet, best you keep flying under the radar screen It appears youve woken the sleeping Walrus,s in the open wheeler section .,who reside at the Springs in there lazyboy chairs., But you are entitled to your opinion, even if there are few ideas a little way wood , And as one poster has pointed out ,that there is a Fact

No way would the open wheelers want to merge & have to share pits with the WP classes. Of course WP hasn’t walked away for the ‘meetings’ like Springs has because if they merge they will get millions of dollars given to them for a new stadium.

just looking mildly at figures... 12 meetings, 150k lease fee, 12.500 dollars required out of every meeting to cover this (not including meeting costs) reckons he sold 100,000 tickets, over 12 meetings is average 8,300 people per meeting required... but I was there one night for a yank racer the place had a good crowd but I doubt it was any where near 8300 people... he talks about stake holders as a group..I reckon he sneaky putting museum tickets and speedway tickets in a lump..does the Chocolate Donut really pull over 8000 ppl a night? I doubt it very much show me real figures, but guessing an average ticket price between adults and kids of say 18 bucks thats still 8300 x 18 thats 149000...with a fee of only 150k a season and meeting costs Id be fighting till the death to keep my gold mine producing too...But does the sport of speedway win... who's really winning.. with only 12 meetings a season... ?

Put another track in at the Park.. leave the speedway as it is with some work done as a sweetener to the ASSCC, then divide off the soccer/ cricket grounds and give ASSCC a cube at the top to extend their pits... then let the springers have the rest of the fields, take a look on google earth how big the whole park is...and its Auckland city's only designated motorsport park..
