Whats wrong with just putting Islands at selecterd points and turn it into really sharp s bends no speedbumps needed then.

Kia ora I travel down Clayton Road now and then and find one speed bump a pain. So nine is a bit ridiculous. Same story as usual with a few spoiling it for the majority. Hilarious that they are saying there will be enough to stop people getting up to speed so why don't they lower the speed limit for that road! Speed cameras do seem to be a better alternative. Green flags and orange lights on Clayton Road.

These "cushions" don't look as harsh as a speed hump. It seems that people could still go across them at speed. Probably smoother than at a slower speed.

Hadn't been to vegas in a long time. I noticed the one in Clayton road, if they are all going to be that size you can't hit that at 50km's

Hilarious that they are saying there will be enough to stop people getting up to speed so why don't they lower the speed limit for that road! Kia Ora Ngahihi - good to meet you last weekend. There is a law stating that a speed limit of less than 50kph cannot be imposed unless all reasonable traffic calming measures have already been taken (ie speed bumps) and failed to alleviate the perceived speed problem. Thus RDC are stuck with installing lumps in the road. www.ltsa.govt.nz/roads/traffic-notes/traffic-note-43.pdf

speedbumps dont work .the council will be inudated with complaints of noise .skidding brakes .bang & thuds .boy racers getting stuck on them & the hoons that park on top of them doing burn outs the list goes on & on .we have them in hamilton & absolute joke we have one nearly out side our yard & you can right a book . we also have streets with chicanes which are also a joke busses cant get around them i cant get my 6 wheeler truck around them so we drive over them ! the best idea as in cambridge the old radar boxes up on the pole with a sign 1/2 mile before hand saying warning speedcamera ahead & it works .a lot cheaper to maintan & & they take the camera out & move it around town so no body no.s where it is . it works . red flags & yellow lights . ;D hic

... Thus RDC are stuck with installing lumps in the road. In 2006 or about local authorities were given greater control over speed on urban roads. - Local authorities can and do work with the NZ Police regarding the installation of speed cameras.
- 40 kph limits are becoming increasingly popular adjacent schools
- Regarding chicanes: If they present difficulties for large vehicles DON't discount them, redesign the chicanes. They are partially effective, and remove long straight ugly sightlines.

Kia ora Murray, I agree with you on the chicanes as they seem to work very well at the top end of Sunset road. The speedbumps on sunset are also less friendly then the ones on Clayton Road and while they are a pain, the speed at the top end of Sunset road has definitely reduced. Unfortunately I can see the day coming when there will be speed bumps on Pukehangi Road too. People speeding on Clayton Road are probably doing between 60 and 80 kilometres an hour. So people speeding on Pukehangi which is a 70 Kilometre an hour road??? Green flags and green lights

Why has this been made an issue of by someone that doesn't live in Rotorua

Possibly 'cause he often uses the road to access speedway ... Possibly 'cause he's just making a 'light-hearted comment' about what could be around the corner for speedway competitors and fans heading to or from Paradise Valley Rotorua.

Chicanes don't work here in Gisborne. The idiot kiddie-racers just use them like a race track. They only seem to be inconvenient for the people who don't need them.

It's a few bumps in one of the roads leading to Paradise Valley. So what! Kia ora Teams Junkie, There are loads of other threads on this board if you don't want to contribute positively to this one! Your comments seem personal rather than constructive and it may not seem to be an issue to you but I can assure you it will be noticeable when you next visit the valley of Paradise. Incidentally your few bumps in one of the roads just became a few more today as they were adding the second load of speedbumps and have marked Clayton road for the next 3 lots of speedbumps already. Green flags and green lights and bouncing trailers.
