2 south island cars dont make the team FULL bud! Coxy will have the standard stock fully reliable by then as only the diff has been giving him reliability problems and we are sorting that out right now.... he was gutted not to be in the starting line up at Palmy..SO LOOK OUT!!! the Boultons are keen to go to Aucks too. so do you want them there to put on a show or not Barry?

Maybe I should have said historically no Cougars and Mustangs, whilst obviously they'll be not Brits.
And yes, Ricky did race there for Nelson last year, so Stratty may be more of a possibility than I first thought. I don't really mind who's there, 8 equal teams will provide the best show, so that's all I'd really wish for.

Auckland teams started as the result of a president"s (who passed away in office) vision. Auckland has carried this on while many other teams events are long gone. Problems faced today would include 1) driver availability- they have retired, can't afford it, want money of other meetings while it is obvious this meeting generates less. 2) certain tracks successful attraction of drivers from other regions. This had led to a significant or total decline in supers in some areas. (While it may not be the tracks fault it is killing this class). It is ironic Palmys success in this area is devaluing their champs. Teams represent the make up of their tracks less & less. Maybe the future for this class is where drivers represent an area or business for a few teams meetings a year, yet could be registered anywhere. There is no evidence to suggest anyone will replace this meeting if Auckland does not have it resulting in a major loss to drivers and spectators. Considering how few teams meetings there are in this class this alone makes the event worth supporting in my opinion. If it fails I hope Auckland will continue to honour (my memory is failing on this one but the name Brendon Caughey comes to mind) their former president with a stockcar teams event of mindblowing proportions. ps to all those Palmy people questioning why we should have this event ,a full Palmy side was not at Huntly (not good when you consider all these great stockcars and drivers you talk about) yet you still had a teams event. Clearly one thing does not equate to the other although I'm sure we all love seeing OUR team in action as often as we can.

Brandon Caughey I think it was Geoff, and yes, we are privileged to still have two Teams events when many others have since long since passed. I do know of one track that very much may pick up the mantle should the ASSCC call it quits (more an 'in the future' thing).....but that wouldn't be this year, should Auckland not happen for some reason. Let's hope it does.........

Was meant in a light hearted vein, but as you've confirmed the Boulton's are keen, bring it I say. It's great to see the name of a historically successful team resurrected to the forefront, who knows who it might be next? Eh Marty.........
