with new zealand teams champs done and dusted and once again meeting of the year i think.....with new zealand teams nationals around 5 weeks away.. it never really feels that great and maybe wouldnt even get into the top 5 meetings of the year in my books.... so my question is why dont they move that meeting to rotorua as that would be the only way to get the most out of that meeting....with over 1 million people living in auckland and they cant even full the house.... sorry to all the south island guys but palmy and vegas got to be the best tracks around....hay maybe even wanganui could do i wicked meeting as well..

Baypark would have to be the biggest but that track is far to big for teams racing, would need 8 a team at least.

Just remember the so called Teams Nationals is a Waikaraka promotion . Nobody has the rights to run it anywhere else .

I think that Waikaraka quite often puts on a better Teams event than Palmy, but the atmosphere is never the same. I think that it will die out tho, if they keep not supporting other tracks and teams events. Rotorua could start their own, and they have run teams events many a time back in the day. I guess they just arent interested any more.

Mr Macgor got it right on the nail...
palmy teams is also not a national title, it is a promotion run by palmerston north club... add the stock shock, battle of the stocks, 240's, 248's to that list of private promotions
so this is a meaningless thread and should be locked and buried, put a bullet thru it bulletfan... research needed before posting I think
and let me know if you have been to the south island at all??? and how many times

Question is will the national teams eventuate this year and if so what teams will participate akl?? - no team in palmy palmy - if they get the $$$$ they want or think they deserve - would be going for 4peat in this event also waikato - ? cars and numbers suspect - ansty might race for AKL rotorua - should be keen and ready - teams all there kihikihi - would be keen id guess stratford - maybe, might be, could be - Boulton helped out in 08, ogle car might be used (gb had it afterall) wanganui - all locals so should be right HB - would be interested id pick - cars and drivers Nelson - love teams racing and have good record - sure starter id say chch - nah cant see them there otago - nup, havent been yet have they gb - nope mustangs - be good to see them prove the palmy website author wrong but doubtful so most likely to front - P, H, R, V, N, B, S and i guess A - gives 8 teams Could see a nth island select team being needed though as some of the 8 above are pretty suspect

The Teams event is going to be held.
The same eight teams as last year I am told, including Palmy and Nelson.
It will be the same format as before. I suspect it will be a good meeting, lets hope the fans turn up.

The Palmy teams champs are not a New Zealand event. Kinda lucky really as the 2 major centres with a combined population of almost 2 million people were not represented. All thats bound to attract plenty of national sponsors. I'm not criticising them they did well to cobble teams together. Waikato & Stratford also had composite teams. Add the GB team & we still only got 12 teams. We are going backards in track representation & spectators. The crowd ethnicity of Palmerston was like looking at a snapshot of NZ 30 years ago, we are not attracting a cross section of the population. For Speedway to go forward or even stay equal it needs to support Auckland & Wellington whether it wants to or not. Also Rotorua doesn't need to flog the Nationals of Waikaraka when it could just reinvent the North Island Classic. In fact if it was a goer they would probably already be doing it.

I'll elaborate for Percy..........the second night format is an absolute turn off, with nothing going for it.

And hopefully WP will even give trophies etc.. for third place this year!!!!!!

The second night last year was way to boring, the panthers waited around all night to come out for one teams race and the rest of the night the spectators had to sit through about 16 ministock races. If its like that again I probably won't even bother.

gotta say tho, wasn't the friday night outstanding. who could forgot that red/black whaka punching through, kept waiting for the mistake that got it airborne, didn't happen. Unfortunately one night of action does not a two night meeting make. Action at Auckland can often be on a par with Palmy, but WP need to adjust the second nights format as stated, they have time to do it, if they dont, they are not listening to the public who quite clearly have voiced thier opinion on it. I am looking forward over the coming days and weeks to see WP's response to thier format disaster, and look forward to a new format and support schedule that will bring in the crowds. Otherwise, it will prove WP dont care about the meeting, the teams, and the crowd, and might be better to give the meeting the chop if the promotion dont give a dammn about what should be a consistent meeting of the year candidate if run properly! Alas I hold slim hope that with all the talk of change etc, I am looking forward to my first and only "local" meeting of the season. If WP show the commitment to me "the paying fan" then they may get more repeat buisness out of me next season. Fingers crossed.
