track cut up early but then went pretty smooth again apart from the usual hole in turn 3. Those laying it down tonight IMHO were Terry Corrin (suprise suprise), started 6th in heat 4 (4th fastest qualifyier), passed those ahead of him (including Towgood) and then ran away to hide. towgood was in 3rd behind corrin and wymer when something broke in the front end.
The other mover tonight was McClymont, started 3rd on the grid in his heat and ran away to win by a convincing margin.
Towgood has A LOT of work ahead of him to get thru to start at best 17th on the grid in the A Main tomorrow night. based on tonights efforts, i'm picking a 46m, 1nz and 21H 1st, 2nd and 3rd barring something breaking/crashing.
Results as i saw them were race 1 grid: emtpy, 29, 1, 10, 18, 74, 98, 69, 8, 24, 12, 26, 9, 99 results :1nz, 10m, 29m, 74a, 98, 18m, 8, 69m, 24, 26, 12, 99, 9, 7
race 2 grid: 28, 17, 21, 15, 79, 16, 271, 14, 5, 46, 78, 78, 57, 98, 6 results: 21h, 28, 17, 15m, 79m, 271, 16, 6a, 5c, 78, 78
race 3 grid: 82, 89, 59, 42, 61, 43, 66, 78, 9, 23, 4, 29, 69, 16, 77 Race 3 results: 59, 89, 61, 66, 42, 82, 43m 78, 9, 77, 16, 29
race 4 grid: 47, 75, 48, 13i, 97, 46, 68, 272, 91, (missed number) 5, 10, 9, 24, 13r Race 4 results: 46m, 75m, 47m, 13i, 97, 5, 68, 27, 9, 24

I think most will be at Western Springs, Te Marua or Meeanee tomorrow night, if not Baypark, but hopefully somebody can do it for when we get home.

Another mover and winner of the last heat was Chris Cowling after suffering some problems with the car (wire shorting out) forcing the car to stop they fixed that and had no problem winning it big congrats to you Chris, car looked like it was on fire sticking to the track so nicely ;D

Wow, Towgood will not give up but what a tough road to hoe. Well done Macca on the results service, and to strx7 for the info after the meeting. It just wasn't happening for Towgood tonight. He was working harder than he should have been to stay within the front 4 of his heat. Then he broke the car. Then again in the D Main we were holding our breath to keep him off the wall going around turns 3 + 4. There was no relaxing within the front four still fighting for position. At one stage I thought an Aucklander was going to take phil out of the race. It was Bizarre race but a good end to the night. The D MAIN winners that get into grids 17 18 19 + 20 of the C MAIN are 272m, 48a, 46a and 4a

Well i'll say it. The track was rubbish! there were many damaged cars because of it. It looked bad before racing started - they were repairing it during the night - the turn 3 mogals have returned as bad as before possibly worse. The Good: The move of the night was Steve Williams moving from 3rd to first between first and second round turns 1 & 2.

just did some late night maths, and i THINK the dash grids should be as follows
dash 1 (finishing order to determine first 8 inside cars for feature) 59a 13i 61a 74a 1nz 17r 75m 28m
Dash 2 (finishing order to determine first 8 outside cars) 21h 15m 10m 46m 29m 89m 47m 66
thats working back on peoples grid positions to work out there qualifying position, then inverting the top 4

The Good: The move of the night was Steve Williams moving from 3rd to first between first and second round turns 1 & 2. Considering there was 60+ saloons racing on it, there was only as much damage as there is on a normal racing night with 22 racing on it. You should actually try driving on it, the start of sprint car heat 2 was the worst it was all night, after that it smoothened out. The track had tremendous grip as could be seen by Rodney Woods wheelstands on the straights in the corners.

I'm not talking about the drive on the track. I'm talking about the launching ramp on turn 3 (at the very least) Also ask all the drivers with blown tyres, bent and broken cars.
And no it is not normal for repair work to be done on the track during the meet. Yes, It does happen I know - when there is big holes in the track.

The track was certainly punishing and took it's toll on cars. Group 4, Phil Towgood broke a front rose joint and I had a stub axil break (out for the rest of the champs).

Now there's a surprise - yet when I suggested last week that the track was "back to its car-breaking worst" I was told that I was imagining things!
